Position Description

Citi Ventures is seeking a Strategic Engagement Manager to join our Marketing, Communications & Platform team to manage all speaking and media/PR opportunities for the team, including internal and external keynotes, presentations, interviews, press releases and investment announcements, social media campaigns as well as videos and podcasts.

The candidate must be a highly organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and proficient project management skills. We are looking for a candidate who is proactive and able to take full ownership of all timelines and deliverables for Citi Ventures engagements. The ideal candidate has a media/PR background and expertise in developing differentiated thought leadership platforms, advising senior executives, and launching creative marketing and communications campaigns. The candidate must have exceptional communication and relationship building skills and be a strong team member who wants to learn and take on more over time.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders-including Citi Ventures’ portfolio companies, top-tier journalists and outlets, conference organizers, and Citi communications leads-to position Citi Ventures as a thought leader and corporate venture capital partner of choice.
  • Support Citi Ventures’ portfolio of companies by providing communications advice and guidance and helping to maximize visibility for investment announcements while adhering to Citi’s Legal and Enterprise Services & Public Affairs (ESPA) guidelines and Citi Ventures’ brand and key messages. Proactively monitor media outreach and mentions; manage relationships with key influencers and reporters; secure targeted media placements and awards; and identify opportunities for strategic content contribution (op-eds, bylines, etc.) to augment Citi’s brand and reputation.
  • Prepare Citi Ventures’ leadership and other subject matter experts for internal and external speaking engagements by understanding the needs of target audiences and drafting key messages, presentations, and briefing materials. Partner closely with the Citi Ventures team to understand team expertise and voice, source and submit to relevant engagements, and help deliver on speaking and presentation goals.
  • Work closely with the MarComms & Platform team to drive reach and engagement for the team’s thought leadership on key market trends, investment areas of focus via creative communications campaigns that integrate written articles, videos, and other media.
  • Manage Citi Ventures’ digital and social media presence to improve engagement with internal and external stakeholders, elevating key messages across multiple channels including Twitter, LinkedIn, and Citi Ventures’ internal and external websites.
  • Manage strategic vendor partnerships to scale marketing engagements and share key engagement metrics with the Citi Ventures leadership team.

Requirements

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to produce and execute upon a differentiated communications strategy for multiple spokespeople
  • A passion for helping executives develop personalized speaking platforms and deliver on their unique voice and perspective
  • An adaptable mindset and ability to balance the needs of startups with those of a large and heavily regulated financial institution
  • Strong understanding of media mindsets and story angles that cut through the noise
  • 5 years of PR, media, communications and/or marketing experience, including experience working closely with agency/in-house teams
  • 2 years of experience preparing senior executives for PR/media and speaking engagements
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills are a must
  • A team-first, can-do attitude

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
