Manager 3, Strategy and Business Development – Walmart Data Ventures
Walmart Data Ventures (WDV) is focused on productizing Walmart’s rich data assets to better serve customers and provide data products that deliver actionable, customer-centric insights to help merchants and brands make better business decisions.
We are seeking a third member of the Strategic team that will enable Walmart Data Ventures to continue to grow its business by expanding key data and product capabilities in know your customer and shelf intelligence as well as entering new market verticals including financial services and health & wellness. This opportunity offers exposure to senior leadership and is a critical contributor to a small but growing team with direct reporting to WDV’s Senior Director of Strategy.
The ideal candidate will be someone that can understand how new technology can be applied to solve complex retail and adjacent business problems. Further they will be expected to support and manage mutual value propositions, risks, and benefits across stakeholders. This individual must have the ability to get things done through influencing and persuading people across a wide range of teams within Walmart and with external counterparts.
We are looking for someone with a passion for new product development, experience in understanding market landscapes, performing both qualitative and quantitative research, leveraging experts across organizations and in industry to identify business opportunities that can significantly impact the growth and adoption of Walmart Data Ventures in the core supplier customer base as well as new markets.
You’ll be successful in this role if:
- You have an analytic skill set and technical aptitude with an ability to review markets and understand trends and future opportunities
- You drive the execution of multiple business plans in both new products as well as existing products sold into new markets
- You are customer focused with an ability to understand, communicate and develop new value propositions, risks, and benefits both to internal and external stakeholders
- You have a track record of coming up with inventive solutions for large problems and opportunities
- You have experience working on strategic opportunities including M&A, partnerships, investments and revenue sharing
You’ll make an impact by:
- Understanding and making suggestions around new products and opportunities from outside of Walmart current capabilities to generate long term value
- Concurrently managing multiple relationships expeditiously and efficiently under tight deadlines
- Orchestrating collaborative work plans and product roadmaps with technology, data scientists, go to market resources within Walmart
- Providing insights and commercial support across product and account management teams
- Building and managing cross-functional relationships with key partners within Walmart that power the business forward.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9+ year of experience working for either a leading 3rd party data / insights supplier (Nielsen, Circana, Kantar, 84.51, dunnhumby etc.) or applicable strategic experience in management consulting / venture capital
- Experience working in business development, partnerships or other applicable research organizations with a background in data products
- Solid understanding of the commercial underpinning of SaaS and relevant business models
- Industry background in retail, financial services, or health & wellness
- Interest or familiarity with computer vision, data delivery / cloud, data science models

The annual salary range for this position is $119,000.00-$221,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.
Additional compensation for certain positions may also include:
– Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location)
– Stock equity incentives
