We are looking for a Laboratory Animal Technician II to join our Insourcing Solutions team locatedin Poolesville, MD.

What you will do!
In the Laboratory Animal Technician II role, you will use existing SOPs and quality assurance standards to perform daily and weekly health observations and husbandry duties for research animals (mice/non-human primates), support is split approximately 50/50 to each species. You will maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, census, and housing or support areas; ensure cage cards have correct information, as well as maintaining animal housing areas; and following quarantine procedures to receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals. This role is also tasked with providing prescribed treatments to study animals; performing or assisting with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species; as well as providing support to the nonhuman primate environmental enrichment and psychological well-being plan. You may be involved in maintaining and following breeding and weaning procedures to support research needs and perform tag/tail procedures as requested.
You may be asked to operate equipment, perform general housekeeping, and stock supplies; in addition, process caging and equipment through cagewash machinery and generate cage set ups. If necessary you will need to perform minor facility repairs (including fence lines and caging).
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
A candidate with a high school diploma or GED is required; and a minimum of one+ years of experience relating to animal care and handling (mice/primates). Eligibility for AALAS certification at the ALAT level required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education/experience listed above.
The pay range for this position is $23.00 – 24.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
