Pay Range
$36.50 – $47.28 Hourly
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

Job Description

We have multipleopenings forTechnical Coordinators to provide advanced technical support in shipping, receiving, and accounting ofsensitive materials to facilities and programs.You will perform tasks related to the control and accountability of receivables and materials, maintain records, and maintain equipment in good operating condition. Thesepositions arein the Asset Management Department within the Business Directorate.

In This Role You Will:

  • Perform handling of sensitive, high risk, high dollar value assets. Including, but not limited to classified materials and parts (all levels), select agents (including high hazard and special handling). Ensures sensitive/high risk/high dollar assets are properly secured and/or handled within defined timelines and standards.
  • Responsible for providing accurate data entry that supplies Asset Management Department reports to track performance and enable decision making. Maintain accurate data entry within property management database, Sunflower, and procurement system, LINCS.
  • Follow institutional policies, procedures, Department of Transportation/International Air Transportation Association (DOT/IATA) regulations, or state and federal laws to prepare goods stated for shipment. Must process a wide variety of materials, including DOT hazardous material, for shipment offsite in compliance with vendor policy and government regulations.
  • Represent department/division on Classified Mail audits, self-assessments, and annual accountable document inventories, including both internal and external reviews.
  • May actively maintain procurement delegation status and accept Technical Release Representative responsibilities on supplier contracts (industrial gases vendor, Pitney Bowes mail machine, shipping, etc.)
  • Perform inspections and certification of specialized stock items, ensuring ES&H requirements are met. Packaging and Transportation Safety (PATS) database entry. (PATS inspections)
  • Monitor industrial gases cryogenic tanks for sufficient operational inventory, update gauge reading in vendor specific database, process orders, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Associate degree in hazardous materials management and waste technologist, radiation protection, chemistry, materials science, or environmental science or technology or a Certification in Hazardous Materials, Radiation Protection or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with receiving, processing, storing, transporting, transferring and packaging-controlled materials.
  • Knowledge of DOT transportation regulations.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the operation, hazardous material receiving, IATA and/or 49CFR hazardous material regulations, and/or ChemTrack.
  • Experience working with other external entitiesin coordinating programmatic priorities shipping and receiving, and radioactive materials receiving activities.
  • Experience and knowledge certifying that packaging is following DOT, IATA and/or the Centers for Disease Control regulations
  • Experience with personal computers, spreadsheet software, and word processing software necessary to maintain the storage, inventory, and accurate records of controlled materials.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Certification within three months of hire, which requires a current CA Driver’s License, StateDriver Record (current driver record from Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) at the time of hire, required annually thereafter), CMV training, CMV Road Test, and Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Evaluation (separate/additional to pre-hire medical evaluation, required every 2 years thereafter).

Qualifications We Desire

  • Ability to maintain thorough knowledge of systems required for execution of duties including LLNL’s Ship It, Sandia’s Web Shipper, FedEx, and UPS systems.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
