The Town is seeking a Maintenance Worker to join our Streets Department team! Maintenance Workers perform semi-skilled and manual maintenance duties required to preserve or improve the safety, cleanliness, appearance, and appeal of the Town by maintaining, cleaning, repairing, constructing and installing the Town’s asphalt, concrete, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, traffic signage, signal, landscaping, trees, buildings and other infrastructure. This position is primarily street and sidewalk work and requires after-hours work in snow and ice removal. Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement is preferred. The starting pay is $16.29/hourly; higher pay for CDL holders; dependent on qualifications and experience.

Schedule:
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00am to 3:00pm
- Overtime as necessary and mandatory during emergency situations

Work is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions, or indoors depending on individual work assignments. Work environment includes exposure to noise, dust and traffic with extended periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching, lifting heavy objects and operating equipment.

- Performs a variety of unskilled and semiskilled manual labor tasks in the maintenance and repair of public facilities, buildings, grounds, streets, utilities, and related facilities.
- Spreads asphalt and patches street surface; assists with concrete work.
- Assists with snow and ice removal.
- Assists other crews when needed.
- Clean up debris from streets and sidewalks.
- Available After hours
- Perform related tasks as required.
Minimum qualifications & Requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Some experience in heavy manual work preferred
- Valid drivers license with reliable transportation
- Required within six months of employment:
- CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement
- Flagging Certification
- Pavement Marking Certification
- Work Zone Certification
- First Aid & CPR
Qualifications
- Some knowledge of street drainage, street signs, buildings, grounds, parks, landscape areas, and related construction, maintenance, and repair procedures;
- Safe driving practices;
- Occupational hazards of the work;
- Operation of basic hand tools used for the job;
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing;
- Prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner;
- Be organized and capable of multi-tasking;
- Perform manual labor for extended periods of time;

- Outdoors: The worker is subject to outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, and atmospheric conditions.
Physical Demands
- This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
