STREETS MAINTENACE WORKER (SEASONAL)
$17.00 – $19.00 per hour
Starting pay for candidate with a CDL is $18.00 per hour
About the Position:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in the construction, repair, and maintenance of City streets and storm water systems.
About Grand Junction Public Works Streets Division:
The Streets Division is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 1,150 lane miles of streets. To accomplish this undertaking, a 12 year cycle is utilized to perform essential preventive maintenance measures to sustain a quality transportation infrastructure network. Two of the primary preventative maintenance components performed by seasonal maintenance workers are the Crack-fill, Patching and Chip Seal programs. Duties
What You’ll Do:
- Participate in construction, repair, and maintenance of roads, irrigation and storm water systems!
- Clean and seal cracks
- Rake shovel and distribute materials necessary for the completion of jobs.
- Operate dump trucks and small equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What We’re Looking For:
- Must be 18+ years of age.
- Ability to work in all types of weather, including high temperatures in direct sunlight while standing, walking, and/or kneeling
- Ability to go from one task to another efficiently
- A team-oriented approach to work
- Consistent positive attitude and willingness to complete all types of tasks
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions and ability to do basic arithmetic.
- Possession of a Class “B” Commercial Driver License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
**Starting pay for candidate with a CDL is $18.00 per hour.

In addition to their paychecks, seasonal employees of the City of Grand Junction receive the following benefits:
Paid Sick Time: Employees accrue Paid Sick Time at the rate of one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year. Accrual begins on the employee’s date of hire. Paid Sick Time may be used for reasons related to mental or physical illness, injury, or health conditions. Unused Sick Time will be paid out upon separation of employment.
Parks & Recreation Benefits: Seasonal employees are eligible for Aquatics benefits if they work an average of 10 hours per week. Employees and their immediate family members may purchase a $25 annual Aquatics pass for use of the Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool and Orchard Mesa Pool.
Paid Time Off: Seasonal employees working more than 1040 hours in the previous season accrue eight (8) hours of PTO at the beginning of their second season and accrue eight (8) additional hours with each season worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours. Balances do not carry over from year to year and, if not used, will be paid to the employee at the end of the season.
