A Structural Engineering Group Lead job is currently available at Belcan in Windsor, CT. This is a full time, direct job with full benefits. Great matching candidates will have experience leading a team of 15-35 people, a Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, and at least 15 years” experience. You will be responsible for leading and mentoring a structural engineering team as well as supporting technical projects for structural engineering tasks. You will also evaluate a wide variety of component designs utilizing advanced analytical and CAD tools. This includes turbo machinery components, mechanical systems & controls, and tooling & instrumentation within the aerospace industry.

Job Duties:
• Perform structural analyses using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and post-process results
• Provide technical recommendations for optimizing hardware designs and modeling approach
• Review structural test plans and reports
• Create and present substantiation documentation of analysis results
• Support data acquisition/ reduction of hardware vibration environment measurements
• Support hardware certification testing
• Review non-conformance/ damage reports
• Interface with customers, hardware suppliers, and participate in design reviews / trade studies
• Technical leadership, mentorship and project execution
• Manage current employees while hiring any new additional resources needed
• Execute and achieve project completion
• Directly interact and grow customer relationships and identify new projects and growth opportunities
• Provide technical support and mentorship to the engineering
• Managing the development of new or revised proposals for potential or existing projects
• Defining and manage changes of the project work scope
• Performing contract review upon receipt of new or revised funding and collaborating with the customer on resolution of any issues related to the contract
• Providing leadership to the project team to ensure all deliverable requirements are met and the teams understands the technical requirements associated with the assigned tasks
• Monitoring project progress to ensure time, costs, budget, and quality are met

Required Qualifications:
• Due to the nature of our work *US CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED*
• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 15 years of related working experience that includes at least 5 years of leadership experience
• Experience evaluating stress and life of parts under vibration and fatigue loading
• Practical experience with Turbomachinery
• Proficiency with FEA tools (ANSYS or Patran/Nastran preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skill as well as presentation skills
• Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to multitask many projects and customers at once.
• Experience in estimating manpower & skillset requirements.
• Managing budgets & schedules
• Must be local to the Belcan office in Windsor, CT or willing to relocate

• Experience performing fracture mechanics / damage tolerance analysis
• NASGRO experience
• Abaqus experience
• Vibration testing experience
• Aerospace experience
• Experience with gas turbine components
• Aircraft engine controls and accessories experience
• Mentoring experience
• Experience with mechanical design
• 3D modeling
• Experience with instrumentation design and/or tool design
• Experience with thermal analysis such as technology development, manufacturing, and/or repair development.

Compensation:
We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $120,000 to $150,000. However, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
