Structural & Payload Design Engineer

$66.28-$81.35/Hour

Responsibilities:
- Develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Develop, maintain and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead performance, integration and analysis of tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Manage supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
- Assist with investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Work under minimal direction.
- Provide oversight and direction to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Lead development, maintenance and modification of structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort.
- Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry combined with 9 + years of relevant work experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
- Experience in structural design process from conceptual layout phase through build-to package release.
- Experience in Model Based Definition.
- Experience in leading a structural design team through product development.
- Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- CATIA, Enovia, NX CAD and Teamcenter PDM skills.
- Experience in earned value management.
- Experience in utilization of new materials.
