Position Summary
The Student Center Finance Specialist will provide financial and data analysis support for the Student Center team. Primary duties include monitoring and creating reports around the Student Center and club budgets, managing club purchasing card reconciliations, and analyzing and recommending solutions for policies and procedures related to student purchasing card usage, communication and reconciliation. The position would also assist with evaluating and synthesizing Student Center assessment and club data, form review, and report creation.
This position will manage the Student Activities and SAPP purchasing cards, process reimbursements and check requests, create monthly budget documents for the director, and support club financial documentation.
Ideal candidates will have excellent Excel, budgeting and financial reconciliation skills, strong attention to detail, and work well in a collaborative environment. The ability to manage multiple projects is also important.
Please note, this position would be hybrid (both in-person and remote/virtual).
The expected hiring range is between $45,000 and $50,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- No experience required
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
- Advanced communication skills, including ability to prepare materials, and clearly and effectively communicate information
- User knowledge and demonstrated experience of financial systems, including expense processing and budget reconciliation
- Understanding and ability to apply basic accounting skills and concepts
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines
- Basic project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a team
- Basic proficiency in writing, editing, and proofing, with knowledge of grammar and punctuation
Essential Functions
- Performs structured analysis for Student Center and club accounts; conducts data mining; identifies, clarifies, and investigates discrepancies and exceptions; proactively develops solutions and processes
- Maintains, reconciles, reviews, combines, and validates financial data sets and accounts, including those for gifts, clubs and student ticket sales
- Contributes to development of Student Center and related accounts budget, forecasting, and analyses
- Runs and analyzes financial reports; assists in preparation of management information reports
- Performs preliminary analysis, recognizes exceptions and recommends solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes
- Ensures work complies with complex internal policies, especially financial policies, and external regulations which may require interpretation
- Serves as a first line resource to client groups, including club student leaders and Student Center staff, on matters in work unit such as financial forms, policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
- Supports Student Activities and OwlNest email accounts as needed
- Maintains financial records and invoices as needed
- Supports Student Center staff with administrative functions, including but not limited to data collection, entry and analysis
- Assists with OwlNest data management, including but not limited to club student leaders and alumni
Preferences
- Experience working with financial processing systems: ImagineOne, Oracle, etc.
- Experience with procurement processes
- Experience with assessment and data analysis
- Experience working in a University setting
