Job Description:
The Student Financial Aid Coordinator II is responsible for assisting campus departments seeking to employ student assistants by reviewing and processing their job postings, payroll issues, job changes, correcting system data entry errors, etc. As appropriate, authorizes hires of student employees or works with departments to review needed documents to complete a hire. Responds to inquiries from departments and students about the Federal Work Study program, including student eligibility, appointment procedures, and applicable rules and guidelines. Manages incoming inquiries to the dedicated Student Employment team email and phone number.
The incumbent will engage with community service agencies to increase participation in the student employment program. Assists currently engaged community service agencies in managing their recruiting, hiring, and payroll for student employees.
This position coordinates the Florida Work Experience Program (FWEP) program, which is funded by the state. Responsible for requesting FWEP funding, making awards to eligible students and reconciling the account. Responsible for identifying and reviewing students’ employment distributions and eligibility for other federal, state, and institutional programs and updating their status as appropriate.
Responsible for assisting in the processing of transient applications as well as awarding scholarships and aid in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Occasional travel for financial aid presentations and professional development workshops.
Expected Salary:
$45,000 annually
Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Student financial aid experience and knowledge of federal regulations as they relate to the Federal Work Study Program.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail; demonstrates an ability to provide excellent customer service; exercise good judgment; and understand, interpret, and consistently apply laws, rules, policies and procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of human resources procedures and system.
