Position Description – Temporary
Position Title: Temporary Tutor Reports To: SUN Site Manager
Location: Centennial High School

Summary of Position:
Under direct supervision of Centennial SUN program staff, the student tutors will provide tutoring support to other Centennial students with direction from adult tutoring staff. Student tutors will work no more than 5 hours per week and will work outside of the regular school day. This position is temporary and will end on July 28th, 2023. Possible additional opportunities may be available for future SUN program sessions. Such opportunities will need to be approved by the SUN Site Manager at Centennial High School.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide tutor support to Centennial High School students under the direct supervision of adult tutoring staff and the SUN Site Manager
- Regular attendance and adherence to agreed upon schedule weekly
- Complete daily time sheet record and ensure that time sheet is complete at the end of the payroll period
- Maintain classroom and school rules to ensure students are safe
- Maintain positive working relationships with students, families, school staff, and custodians
- Work within school and agency policies. Protect student confidentiality
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Desire and ability to work with peers and ensure enriching, positive, and appropriate tutoring support
- An independent, self-motivated, creative and resourceful individual
- Excellent organization skills and interpersonal communication skills
- A cooperative manner and the ability to work as part of a team
- A willingness to ask questions for clarification and job completion
- Demonstrate respect and professionalism in all interactions
- Demonstrate enthusiasm about working in an inclusive environment which serves children of all backgrounds and abilities
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be legally able to work in the United States (documentation will be required for I-9 form)
- Spanish speaking skills are a plus
- Basic English proficiency is required (must be able to read, write and speak English)
Program Hours:
Student tutors will develop a schedule with the SUN Site Manager for their tutoring responsibilities.
Term:
The current term is July 10th – July 28th, 2023. SUN activities are not held on Centennial School District No-School or Early Release Days. Position may have an option of continuing for future school terms. SUN Student Tutors are part-time, temporary employees of Metropolitan Family Service.
Compensation:
$17.00 per hour
