Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Student Success Initiatives Associate Director Initiatives facilitates work focused on student success, in collaboration with units across divisions of the university.
Department Overview:
We seek a Student Success Initiatives Associate Director to join the Student Success Leadership Core in the College of Arts and Sciences. Through a networked approach to student success, we put students at the center of our work. The Associate Director will be immediately plugged into the network: reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education, working closely with the Directors of Advising and First Year Experiences, and collaborating with faculty and staff across the college. We are looking for a leader who can develop and expand the Bronco Gap Year program and other key retention efforts. The Associate Director will play an important role in advancing the student success goals articulated in the strategic plan, and supporting the college to engage in the university’s aspirational values around diversity, equity, and inclusion. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and student-centered.

This position is a 12-month, professional staff position. Candidates must be able to work on-site.

The Associate Director will find Boise State University is an exciting place to work. Level Scope:
Recognized subject matter expert who knows how to apply theory and put it into practice with in-depth understanding of the professional field with limited oversight from managers. Independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; requires deep job knowledge of areas typically obtained through higher education combined with experience. Manages large projects or processes and problems faced are difficult and often complex; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions. May manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy. Influences others regarding policies, practices and procedures.
Essential Functions:
60% of Time the Student Success Initiatives Associate Director:

  • Manage and oversee processes related to the development and ongoing revisions of academic related initiatives.
  • Contribute to institutional change related to student success by supporting continuous improvement action planning, assessment, and modifications.
  • Conduct research and summarize data to inform decision making, evaluate program effectiveness or alternatives, and to inform program development.
  • Coordinate integration of projects and track workflow to monitor progress.
  • Monitor student data dashboards and compile reports related to student success.
  • Establish timelines and communications with appropriate academic units and coordinate logistics.
  • Review and resolve complex issues and concerns related to student academic-related issues.

35% of Time the Student Success Initiatives Associate Director must:

  • Serve as the point person for supporting for students who stop-out or encounter barriers (e.g., 1:1 coaching, proactive outreach, guided programming)
  • Support the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education and Student Success in student-focused projects and initiatives (e.g., Bronco Gap Year)
  • Collaborate with Dir of Academic Advising, faculty and advising coordinators for training, participation protocols, and/or development of protocols where student success and advising may intersect
  • Collaborate with the Director of First Year Impact
  • Create and maintain data collection processes related to COAS student success initiatives and programs
  • Summarize data related to college strategic goals pertaining to student success, engagement and retention
  • Professional flexibility to accommodate the creation and/or adaptation of college based student success initiatives or priorities

5% of Time the Student Success Initiatives Associate Director must:

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent plus 5 years experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in student services, student affairs, college student administration, education, educational leadership, social work, counseling, or closely related field.
Experience in higher education academic advising and/or student support initiatives Salary and Benefits:
$56,000-$68,000 annually commensurate with experience.
