Position: Summer Explorations Program 1:1 Student Support Aides (1:1 Student Support Aides, Substitute 1:1 Student Support Aides)
Location: Hosmer Elementary School in Watertown, MA
Schedule: Various shifts available: Early Morning Shifts 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM, Morning Shifts 8:15 AM – 12:45 PM, Afternoon Shifts 12:30 PM – 5:45 PM, and Full-Day Shifts 8:15 AM – 5:45 PM
Pay Rate: $18.09 per hour – $22.25 per hour based on relevant, job-alike experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work directly with one specific student, student(s), and/or to assist with an entire group depending on student and program needs.
- Provide support for students with disabilities, special health care needs, and/or behavior and/or social-emotional needs.
- Provide supervision to ensure student safety.
- Work collaboratively with the Community Education Director, Community Education Assistant Director, and/or the Summer Explorations Behavior Support Specialist to ensure that activities and experiences are adapted so that each student can access the program in a way that is best suited to their individual needs and strengths.
- Assist students with personal care tasks as needed which may include toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.
Professional Commitment:Our goal is to provide as much consistency as possible for the groups and students in our program. Preference will be given to filling the positions listed with staff who are able to work full days, 5 days per week, and/or half-days, five days per week. The 1:1 Student Support Aide is required to fulfill the shifts they have committed to. Staff who are not able to commit to regular, weekly shifts, may be offered positions in a substitute capacity with shifts and assignments that may vary from week to week.
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree and 9 months of experience working with school-age children preferred, not required OR
- 6 months of experience working with school-age children and/or working on a degree in a related field
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred
- Safety Care Certification and/or willingness to attend district-offered Safety Care Training
Annual Professional Development Requirement:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
