Summary:
Our goal is to provide as much consistency as possible for the groups and students in our program. Preference will be given to filling the positions listed with staff who are able to work full days, 5 days per week, and/or half-days, five days per week. The Lead Teacher is required to fulfill the shifts they have committed to. Staff who are not able to commit to regular, weekly shifts, may be offered positions in a substitute capacity with shifts and assignments that may vary from week to week.
Position: Summer Explorations Program Lead Instructors
Instructors include:
Lead Group Instructors, Substitute Lead Instructors, Art Lead Instructors, Project Lead Instructors, Gym Lead Instructors
Location: Hosmer Elementary School in Watertown, MA
Schedule: Various shifts available: Early Morning Shifts 7:00 AM – 8:30 AM, Morning Shifts 8:15 AM – 12:45 PM, Afternoon Shifts 12:30 PM – 5:45 PM, and Full-Day Shifts 8:15 AM – 5:45 PM
Pay Rate: $20.49 per hour – $25.20 per hour based on relevant, job-alike experience
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead student activities.
- The lead teacher will lead their group, or several groups if leading Art, Gym, or Projects, through pre-planned activities and document student’s completion of the projects for our daily program “highlights” parent/caregiver communication email.
- Lead teachers will implement structured and unstructured movement, social, craft, and other activities with their group(s).
- Lead instructors will supervise their assigned group, consult with the Comm Ed Director and Assistant Director regarding any specific student needs or concerns, and ensure there are developmentally appropriate activities planned and available that meet the needs of the students in their groups who may range from kindergarten through grade 5.
- May require supervision of high school volunteers and/or high school staff members.
- Must maintain daily attendance records including accurate student counts following name-to-face attendance taking protocols.
- The Lead Instructor may also be assigned other duties by the Site Coordinator or Community Education Director or Assistant Director.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 months of experience working with school-age children preferred, not required OR
- Associates Degree and 9 months of experience working with school-age children preferred, not required OR
- 12 months of experience working with school-age children and/or working on a degree in a related field
Annual Professional Development Requirement:
- CPR/First Aid Certification
