JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Warehouse/Delivery – Nutrition Services

REPORTS TO: Nutrition Services Director

UNIT CLASSIFICATION: PSE – Food Service/Custodian

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Nutrition Services Director, perform a wide variety of activities related to the processing, storage, distribution and moving of district food supplies, disposables, chemicals and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS*:

  • Transport and deliver a variety of food supplies and materials.
  • Store, organize and rotate stock utilizing proper storage methods and procedures.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicle containing a variety of supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Operate delivery vehicles, forklifts and other warehouse equipment in a neat, orderly and safe manner.
  • Pull orders and perform inventories, recommend items for re-order to maintain necessary food supplies and materials on hand.
  • Deliver food supplies and materials to assigned schools.
  • Stack all food supplies and materials in appropriate locations within each assigned storage areas.
  • Assist each assigned school with storage of food supplies and materials as directed by the building Head Cook when available.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will include indoor, outdoor, office and warehouse environments.

Hazards:

Working with machinery, tools, electrical and motorized equipment, chemicals and in temperatures associated with warehouse and food distribution environment; driving for periods of time; occasional contact with dissatisfied individuals.

The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting (up to 60 pounds frequently), pushing, and/or pulling including the ability to handle hand truck loads up to 400 pounds, frequent climbing/ descending (ladders up to 20 feet), balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 40% sitting, 40% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED.

Previous warehouse experience is preferred.

Forklift operation experience is preferred.

Required computer skills include preparation of spreadsheets and database information.

Knowledge of basic hand tools is required.

Ability to drive large trucks and/or pickup trucks with trailer.

Skills are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Ability to communicate effective in both written communication and verbal communication and work effectively with a wide variety of individuals utilizing excellent customer service skills. Ability to safely and appropriately operate the tools, equipment and technology necessary, effectively operate a delivery vehicle, make accurate mathematical calculations, plan and organize work. Ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures, work effectively as a team members, accurately maintain records and meet schedules and timelines.

Licenses/Special Requirements

Valid Washington State Driver’s License

CDL License preferred.

Proof of insurance required.

Clear driving abstract required.

Social Security Card.

WSP/FBI fingerprint/background clearance.
