JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Mower – Seasonal Grounds

REPORTS TO: Facilities & Maintenance Director

UNIT CLASSIFICATION: PSE Custodian

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Perform mowing and grounds maintenance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Mow grounds.
  2. Keep landscaping area free of weeds and accumulated garbage.
  3. Operate weed eater or power mower in areas that cannot be reached by field mower (i.e. side of buildings, walkways, fence lines and around trees).
  4. Performance maintenance checklists, preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment entrusted for his/her use.
  5. Observe and follow established safety procedures.

Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships will all persons contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The daily work is performed in an outdoor environment. Employees must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and stand for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to withstand exposure to high noise levels and extremes in temperature (hot and cold).

Employee must be physically able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Valid Washington State driver’s license.

Must be willing to work on a flexible schedule including nights and weekends when necessary.

Must be able to operate vehicles with a standard transmission.

Must have the knowledge and ability to operate a variety of equipment used by the grounds department.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to establish effective working relationships and interact successfully with school district staff.

Education and Experience:

Must provide proof of high school diploma or G.E.D.

Licenses/Special Requirements:

Valid Washington State driver’s license

Meet minimum requirements for working with children in schools including WSP and FBI Fingerprint/Background Clearance
