Promotion: one year of permanent service as an Internal Investigator 2 (Justice Center).
Non-competitive: eight years of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience*, two of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Substitution: An Associate’s degree may be substituted for two years of law enforcement investigative or field investigative experience;
OR a Bachelor’s degree may be substituted for four years of law enforcement or field investigative experience.
Regardless of any substitution, all candidates must have at least two years of supervisory law enforcement investigative experience or field investigative experience
*Field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience is defined as independent investigative experience and includes the following activities; interviewing and interrogating witnesses; collecting and analyzing data and evidence; writing and summarizing case narratives; and testifying at administrative hearings and criminal proceedings.
Non-qualifying experience includes: routine police patrol work, traffic enforcement, building surveillance, tax collection, collection of delinquent accounts, skip tracing, credit checking, auditing, employment interviewing, hotel or store detective, correction officer, guard, inspector or security related positions, or any other position which does not involve the level of field investigative or law enforcement investigative experience described above.
Positions that do not have the field investigative or law enforcement experience described above WILL NOT be considered qualifying experience.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
The preferred candidate will have experience in the following: development and presentation of training curriculum, preferably someone certified as a General Topics Instructor; the process of investigating abuse and neglect; and with the populations receiving services from the State and provider agencies in our jurisdiction.
Duties Description The position will report directly to the Associate Director of Training, M-3 and will have management and oversight responsibility for external training programs intended for State oversight and provider agency investigators and State and local Law Enforcement Personnel. In addition, the individual will be responsible for:
• Developing and presenting curriculum for the purpose of training new and experienced Justice Center investigators
• Meeting with agency executive staff, program managers, and outside stakeholders to identify and analyze training and development needs
• Coordinating with Administrative Unit leads as needed to provide staff resources
• Supervising a team of 2-3 staff
