Job Summary
**POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL FILLED**
The Accounting and Collections Supervisor provides professional accounting work, and coordinates and supervises accounting and collections staff, to ensure that the practices of the unit are accomplished pursuant to State statutes. The Supervisor performs a variety of tasks related to the collection of debts owed to the County.
Examples of Duties
- Supervises and develops staff in the accounting unit to ensure that the objectives are met.
- Assists in the development of the Department budget, monitors, and analyzes Department budget in compliance with State, Federal, and County mandates. Authorize expenditures, according to need, within budgetary allowance in program areas.
- Performs and supervises all accounting entries, transactions, and reconciliations for Social Services.
- Fosters effective community relations; arranges and attends meetings with community organizations and other agencies to coordinate the provision of accounting and collection services to the Rice County community.
- Engages in debt collections activity.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINUMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field, and two or more years of supervisory experience as an Accounting or Collections Officer or equivalent, or an Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting or closely related field, and five or more years of supervisory experience in collection work in a loan company, bank, credit union, or County agency. A valid Driver’s license is required upon hire.
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous county supervisory experience.

UNION: Exempt, Non-Union – Grade 13
HOURS: HOURS: Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week. Business Hours 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday.
