Overview
The Recreation Supervisor manages, supervises, and oversees the overall operations of a community recreation center, including staff, independent contractors and volunteers. Responsible for the fiscal management of the center, goal setting, and communication of the organization, media, all levels of management, and the diverse population within the
community service level.

- Supervises, oversees, manages, and monitors the daily operations of a community center; assists
with opening and closing procedures for the center, handles cash and daily revenue accounting, and ensures the facility is clean and aesthetically appealing; develops and implements long range plans, programs and schedules; determines goals and objectives needing emphasis. - Coaches and mentors staff, reviews and approves work schedules, approves and submits time cards, and meets with staff one-on-one to provide corrective action regarding their work; evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques; identifies staff development and training needs and recruits, selects, assigns, and motivates the performance of subordinates.
- Recommends recreation specific programming techniques, procedures, materials and equipment; trains and instructs subordinates, volunteers, contract instructors, and participants concerning policies, procedures, and programs.
- Develops and maintains cost-effective and revenue generating recreation programs and services that meet the needs of the community and are in compliance with all laws, policies, regulations, goals, and safety standards.
- Assesses trends in the community for new programs and services; evaluates programs and events for effectiveness and participation levels, assists in the development of new programs, and recommends program changes; tracks services provided, monitors results, and generates operational or program reports as needed.
- Compiles statistical data and prepares reports on attendance, facility use and budgeted expenditures; prepares and monitors the center’s annual operating budget and ensures the proper maintenance of all program files and records.
- Performs any and all other tasks as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience
- 5 years experience in recreation program development, implementation, and facilitation and 1 year of supervisory/lead work experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
Education
- High School Diploma, GED
