Job Description

Position: Assistant Supervisor

Shift: 6th (630pm-630am)

Description

The Assistant Supervisor is a Salaried Non-Exempt position which contributes to our mission of saving and sustaining lives by managing and coordinating employees and processes in their assigned value stream in the production of IV therapies, premixed drugs, renal therapies and other sterile solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

o Promote a safe work environment

o Delegate, direct, coordinate and schedule activities of assigned employees.

o Is a process expert in their assigned area. Will be proficient in two processes. Will also have an overall understanding of every process in their assigned department.

o Train and mentor colleagues within department.Train new employees (must complete Train-the Trainer course).Responsibilities including department orientations and completing documentation for access to necessary software applications.

o May participate in Continuous Improvement, Project and Safety Teams, Lean Initiatives, Value Stream led activities and defect prevention programs.

o Review batch documentation and records. Perform PM’s (Preventative Maintenance tasks) and updating electronic records in various software applications.

o Perform scheduled quality checks, disposition product, identify any deviations that may occur and take the appropriate action to include stopping production on the machine if necessary.

o Lead and participate in Tier 1 meetings which include a review of safety, quality and production goals.

o Organize and coordinate general cleaning through assigned area per GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).

o Participate or lead troubleshooting activities with Quality and Maintenance personnel to determine the true root cause of non-conforming processes.

o Communicate with outgoing shift personnel to obtain information regarding any problems with machines, materials, etc. encountered during the previous shift.

o Will fill in for Operators or Production Technicians as needed.

o Investigate, identify, correct or escalate any inefficiency in value stream performance.

o Take appropriate action if any safety, quality, mechanical or discrepancy issues occur.

o Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

o Sustain a clean and safe work area using 6S principles.

Work Environment

o In either a Class III Controlled Environment which includes the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, hairnet and beard cover or a Class II Controlled Environment which includes the following dress/gowning requirements: safety glasses, ear plugs, gown, hairnet, beard cover, gloves, and shoe covers (additional PPE required when cleaning).

o Constant or intermittent exposure to elevated levels of noise and vibration.

o Involves working around moving equipment, machinery and conveyors.

o Requires occasionally working with chemical cleaners and disinfectants.

Qualifications for this role

o Must have basic English, written and oral, communication skills adequate to communicate with other team members.

o Understand verbal and written safety and quality instructions and read and comprehend written work instructions including words and drawings.

o Must be able to perform basic mathematics.

Education and Experience

o High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

o Must be at least 18 years of age.

o Minimum 6 months of manufacturing experience and demonstrated leadership skills.

o Possess or obtain PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) Operator Certification.

o Six months experience as a Sr. Material Handler, Production Technician or equivalent.

o Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and the ability to learn/use enterprise software (i.e. POMS and Maximo).

Physical Requirements

o Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

o Normal visual acuity and the ability to distinguish color are necessary.

o Must be able to pass the P.I.V. physical.

o Must be able to squat, climb, kneel, reach above shoulder level, reach at or below shoulder level, twist and bend at the neck, twist and bend at the waist and balance.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a base salary range of $31,000 to $75,000. The above range represents the expected base salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
