Job Summary
The Supervisor of Financial Assistance coordinates and supervises activities of the Financial Assistance Unit to ensure that the practices of the Unit are accomplished pursuant to State Statutes. This position is instrumental in ensuring smooth and efficient delivery of income maintenance programs, and does so by coordinating and supervising employees working in the Unit; interpreting rules and regulations, establishing and evaluating policies; and coordinating Unit activities with other units, service areas, other County departments, and outside agencies as applicable.
Examples of Duties
- Assures all statutes, rules, and regulations of Income, Health Care Assistance, and Employment Services Assistance are effectively and professionally administered.
- Develops, monitors, and analyzes Unit budget in compliance with State, Federal, and County mandates.
- Meets program performance stands and takes corrective actions.
- Collaborates with internal customers and partners in administration of programs.
- Advocates for customers enrolled in Prepaid Health Plans through complaint and appeal procedures, ensuring that necessary medical services are provided either by the health plan directly or by referral to appropriate agencies.
- Develops County childcare plan, ensures implementation and utilization of the plan, and monitors outcomes.
- Fosters effective local and regional relations and participates in improving the delivery system; and planning and implementing local and regional projects.
- Completes essential functions specific to the Income, Health Care Assistance, and MFIP Unit.
- Monitors service contracts and maintains professional relationships with community providers.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Associate’s degree in business administration, accounting, or related field and five years of experience in the financial assistance unit, including two years as a lead worker, or equivalent. Valid Driver’s license required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certification of Security & Data Privacy required upon hire and recertified annually, and Emergency Management Institute/FEMA Certification.
PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field. Previous county supervisory experience.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Non-Union – Grade 13
HOURS: Normal business hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week.
