Description
The J’s Clubhouse has two great options for childcare while parents/guardians workout at The J’s Fitness Center. The J is seeking an enthusiastic individual who has a passion for working with children and providing a safe and engaging environment for children ages 3 months – 11 years.
The Little Clubhouse offers drop-in childcare for younger children ages 3 months to 5 years, with engaging playtime and sensory opportunities where kids are encouraged to climb, crawl, and explore. The Big Clubhouse is a more active area for kids ages 5 to 11 years, here we introduce them to exercise and active play. We have a two-story slide, rock climbing wall, and Ninja Warrior course! We also have quiet areas for video gaming, crafts, coloring, board games, or homework.
The Clubhouse Supervisor will assist in managing the shift leads, staff attendants, and special event staff. This position is responsible for training, scheduling, and supervising the staff, ensuring they are always interacting with children and providing excellent customer service. Additional responsibilities include assisting in evaluating the quality of the department overall by addressing member needs and implementing enhancements or changes, accordingly.
The Supervisor will oversee the special events that take place within the Clubhouse space, such as birthday parties and Saturday Night Out events. The ideal candidate will be creative, organized and have experience in customer service and supervision.
Essential Functions
- Supervise a first-rate staff to provide our members with the childcare service they desire and to maintain growth and loyalty.
- Schedule staff shift coverage and maintain staff accountability; document issues promptly for Clubhouse Manager to address.
- Oversee current revenue producing programs such as birthday party rentals and Saturday Night Out events.
- Work in tandem with CH Manager to learn and operate the new Member System and check-in system.
- Implement the CH Manager’s methodology to assist in training current staff and new hires. This methodology includes teaching the clubhouse staff to be actively present with children and to initiate, develop and maintain personalized relationships with members and their children.
- Create a high level of customer service by responding in real time to parent issues or concerns.
- Provide direct service by personally engaging children in interactive activities. Should expect to be part of the staffing coverage about 50% of time and handling administrative functions the other 50% of the time.
- Cross-promote and educate J members about other programming offered at The J including swimming lessons, sports, dance, and more.

Requirements
- Experience working with children ages infant through grade school
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certified or willing to complete upon hire – provided on site for the dept
- Experience with training, scheduling, and supervising employees is preferred
- Able to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans
- Ability to form relationships with children and families
- Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions children weighing up to 50 pounds
- Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to assist children or while working with equipment and engaging in activities
- Able to work a variable schedule that includes some weekends and evenings
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting/carrying up to 20lbs, talking, hearing, and regularly getting up and down from seated position
- Occasional sitting, pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, crawling and/or climbing stairs/ladders to interact with children including in the play structures present in the clubhouse
- Occasional exposure to a generally loud environment including gaming and music speakers and children’s voices indoors
