Supervisory Physical Security Specialist

Summary

The Office of Protection Services (AOP)ensures the safety and security of employees,visitors and the objects entrusted to the National Gallery of Art, while allowing for the appropriate level of public access to Gallery resources. This position provides oversight and direction to an operational security component, and deploys tests and controls over that component. The incumbent is responsible for supervising staff of AOP’s security command center (SCC), which operates around the clock.

Duties

The incumbent:

  • Establishes internal separations that prevent the public and non-credentialed personnel from entering staff spaces and critical facility systems.
  • Provides support in the development of security related tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Develops elements of physical security testing procedures.
  • Serves as the system administrator the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Washington Area Law Enforcement System (WALES).
  • Adapts standards and best practices of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) to match the operating realities of the Gallery.
  • Prepares and edits graphic floor plans using CAD (computer aided design) application software to describe and locate security, fire, guard patrol and other protective zones associated with all systems.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the Qualification Standards Handbook requirements for the GS-0080-12.

A qualified candidate’s online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-11 level in the Federal service, providing oversight and direction to an organization’s security function or sub-function.
