Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Recreation) NF-04

Summary

This position is located on the MWR Toledo Bend Recreation Park in Florian, Louisiana. This major recreation site is located on the Toledo Bend Reservoir and approximately 30 to 40 minutes from Fort Johnson in Leesville, Louisiana.

Incumbent provides managerial oversight of the park by enforcing safety and operational procedures, supervising staff, creating requests for personnel actions, developing and executing annual operating budgets, procurement, property management, and internal controls.

Duties

  • Plans, devises, and administers outdoor recreational activities at a U.S. Army Recreation Area.
  • Responsible for the overall management for the 365-days-a-year facility that includes lodging units, RV camp sites, a marina, rental docks, bathhouses, and playgrounds.
  • Responsible for a swimming beach, a multi-purpose athletic court, nature trails, picnic pavilions, picnic table sites, and a fully equipped administration office with video and amusement machines.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to the various outdoor recreation activities and participants, modifying, adapting, amending, or otherwise changing plans and procedures for such activities as developments require.
  • Ensures that safety orientation is provided regarding specific activities. Provides an ongoing education program designed to promote the rational use, sound protection, and conservation of the natural resources and various facilities involved.

  • A one year probationary period to include a supervisory probationary may be required.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Directly related work experience that included the goals, principles, method of techniques of outdoor recreation, and understanding the interest of individuals and groups.

2. Planning, organizing, coordinating, supervising or evaluating community, industrial, outdoor, institutional, or other recreational programs.

3. Work experience supervising support staff in outdoor recreation programs.

4. Demonstrated work experience must be equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level.

Allowances, Incentives, and PCS Costs:

  • Allowances, differentials, or incentives will be paid.
  • Payment Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs are authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is in the Government’s interest.
  • This is a pay-banded position.
  • Sunday premium pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. If authorized, only regular (full-time, part-time, limited tenure and seasonal) employees may be paid Sunday premium pay. When authorized, Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday). Sunday premium will be paid at the rate of 25% of the basic rate for all hours of non-overtime, when any part of the scheduled tour of duty is performed on Sunday (to a maximum of 8 hours per Sunday).
  • Night differential may be authorized by the Garrison Commander. When authorized, night differential will be paid at the rate of 10% basic rate for hours of non-overtime work performed between 1800-0600.
