Job Description
Puget Sound Energy’s Snoqualmie Falls Facility is looking for an Operations & Maintenance Supervisor to join our team.
The Snoqualmie Falls Hydroelectric Project is Puget Sound Energy’s oldest power-generating operation and the world’s first completely underground power plant. More than a century after its construction, the facility still produces clean, renewable electricity for PSE customers. In addition, its public park and trails are one of the Pacific Northwest’s most popular scenic destinations, drawing approximately 2 million visitors annually to view the majestic, 270-foot waterfall.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to create and maintain positive relationships with internal customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the general public as well as supervise and manage a diverse group of employees, including a union represented crew of technicians, mechanics and specialists as assigned. The supervisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and other regulatory requirements and relied upon to lead, direct, supervise, and coach operational staff and to meet programmatic and infrastructure goals of the Energy Resource Group.
This position may be subject to random DOT drug and/or alcohol testing.
Job Responsibilities
- Employee Safety, Development & Team Building – Provides employees with coaching, feedback, developmental opportunities and builds effective teams:
- Promotes and supports a culture of total safety by eliminating at-risk behaviors through safety audits and inspections, hazard reduction and reporting, and leadership in safety meetings.
- Oversees training and development of employees and makes effective staffing decisions.
- Accountable to ensure employees adhere to safety, legal and operational compliance requirements.
- Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews.
- Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members.
- Ensures appropriate staffing and response, to maintain reliability and compliance standards:
- Monitors and adjusts workload, productivity and staffing levels.
- Provides timely and accurate information and status updates to leadership, safety and compliance. Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external entities.
- Responds to and completes data requests to satisfy compliance requirements.
- Provides technical, front line, operational expertise, and leverages technical skillsets to support the efficient operation and maintenance of systems and/or equipment:
- Interfaces with other PSE groups to ensure availability to meet electric demand.
- Ensures standard operating procedures and emergency action plans are followed and in place.
- Ensures maintenance of facilities is in accordance with company guidelines and external regulations. Oversees planned outages and schedules maintenance for equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoots real-time operational issues as necessary.
- Responsible for proper management and control of parts and materials inventory.
- Responds to infrastructure and resource emergencies, such as outages and storm events, on a 24/7 basis.
- Supports preparation of annual maintenance and operations budgets and conducts ongoing tracking and reporting to ensure cost control of activities within corporate financial objectives.
- Responsible for the daily oversight and improvement of the work management process:
- Coordinates with crew and management on work identification, planning, scheduling and closeout.
- Completes planning and scheduling of preventative and corrective maintenance activities based on resource availability and operational constraints.
- Creates, manages and maintains maintenance plans for all related activities within SAP.
- Maintains and presents work management data and key performance indicators.
- Leads meetings related to planning and scheduling, including preparation of materials, and incorporation of schedule changes as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in engineering or electro-mechanical technology, or other related degree; or equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
- 5 years operations experience in utility/power generation/natural gas storage (including engineering, construction/maintenance/repairs, and/or electric/gas utility industry), or equivalent experience in operations/maintenance or engineering in other heavy industrial fields.
- Experience with specialized operational systems (such as plant controls, maintenance planning/scheduling, major mechanical/electrical systems).
- Demonstrated skills leading and developing personnel in a collaborative work environment and managing projects.
- Demonstrated safety leader.
- Strong teamwork, coaching, and organizational skills and an aptitude for process improvement.
- Demonstrated experience in collaborating with a wide range of internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently and with teams.
- Strong business acumen including the ability to organize/prioritize/evaluate work and within budget constraints.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer skills including MS Office Suite.
- Availability to respond to emergencies, such as outages and storm events, on a 24/7 basis.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related degree.
- 5 years of increasingly responsible positions in directing field crews or project management.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of hydroelectric generation facilities.
- Experience with financial management and/or budgeting.
- Experience utilizing Computer Maintenance Management System Software (CMMS), preferably SAP Plant Maintenance software for work management.
- Prior supervisory experience, preferably supervising union represented employees.

The pay range for this position is $78,100.00 – $188,800.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
