Responsibilities
Prepares sterile table for each procedure assuring required instruments are available to the physicians including suture, blades, cautery, suction, implants, medication and solutions. Assists in draping the surgical field to ensure correct exposure of operative site with respect to each patient’s right to privacy, dignity, safety and comfort. Provides a quiet environment for the surgical patients. Assists the surgeon when she/he does not have an assistant. Correctly identifies items on back table. Applies basic and current knowledge of surgical instruments for a proficient performance of assigned functions.
The surgical technologist/certified surgical technologist (ST/CST) in the Mayo Clinic Department of Nursing Travel Pool will provide staffing support across Mayo Clinic nursing sites (Arizona, Florida, Minnesota & Wisconsin) as determined by staffing and patient care needs.
As a Mayo Clinic employee, the Staffing Pool ST/CST actualizes Mayo Clinic core values and culture. The ST/CST will travel on a routine basis to various locations. Flexibility and adaptability are essential in work assignments and work schedules.
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Surgical Tech Program required. Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required within 18 months of hire.
- Must have at least 1 year of surgical tech experience
- Traveler or float pool experience preferred
- Must be in good standing related to performance
- If a current Mayo Clinic employee, must have been in current position for one year prior to applying
- Expected to travel across multiple Mayo Clinic sites including Arizona, Florida, Minnesota & Wisconsin. Additional details about travel expectations will be discussed during the interview process
Additional Qualifications:
Requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions. Basic computer knowledge and skills required
License or Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) required within 18 months of hire.

Up to $2000.00 per week with an additional monthly stipend and travel differential.
