ABOUT THIS ROLE:

This position is vital to everything being constructed in the Construction and Operations Division and serves as the only Licensed Surveyor position in the county.

This job requires a thorough understanding of construction activities and surveying practices. Modern surveying equipment is supplied to this individual as well as a surveying assistant. This two man team is responsible to layout construction projects and supply cut sheets to the construction/drainage staff on assigned projects. This job requires the ability to perform constructability reviews as well as estimate construction costs working alongside the Construction Branch Chief. Licensed Surveyor required to seal plats/as-builts/install property corners.

The incumbent will lead a surveying crew of two as part of a staff of 35. This staff includes 5 separate crews and utilizes several contractors on various construction projects with several different levels of need for a surveyor. Also, the county maintains roads in Lake Jackson and Bull Run Mountain, in these areas property lines are in need of marking to determine project limits. Recent surveying experience is required for this job.

PREFERENCES: The successful candidate will have 5 years professional surveying experience in heavy construction, a teamwork mentality, punctuality and a can-do attitude.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: 7-3 Monday through Friday.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: LS License

ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $79,009 – $113,896
