Description

The SVP, Corporate Clean Energy Solutions is a senior management position within a fast-paced, rapidly growing company in the clean energy sector, serving domestic community solar and commercial clients. This role is responsible for managing a US-based commercial sales and business development team, designing and implementing sales plans, creating finance products and tools to support expansion among commercial clients, improving sales process, and fostering an ambitious and fun culture within the sales team. Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this is an executive role and will involve participation in overall company strategy and key decision-making. This role will also adhere to expectations of leadership at Pivot Energy, including exhibiting emotional intelligence, fostering and supporting a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategy Development

  • Design, implement, and lead short- and long-term Corporate Clean Energy Solutions strategies to capitalize on corporate clean ESG strategies nationwide
  • Deploy best-in-class business development and solutions sales tactics in support of Pivot’s corporate clean energy goals, while shaping the evolving corporate clean energy strategy as the energy transition unfolds
  • Develop strategic relationships with existing corporate partners to shape the evolving client experience in the energy transition with Pivot’s Client Partnership Management team
  • Identify opportunities to expand Pivot’s corporate clean energy solutions by conducting market research and bringing forward proposals to address corporate Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions reductions goals
  • Champion an approach to impact solar development on behalf of corporates that satisfies emerging ESG strategies for Fortune 1000 companies
  • Work with the broader commercial teams to improve sales processes, integration with project development, and driving success alongside the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction team
  • Provide solutions and overcome project hurdles related to contract negotiation, financing, and unique solutions development
  • Set a pricing strategy suited to Pivot’s differentiated offering by closely tracking deal values and managing cash forecasts across client acquisition and project delivery
  • Devise targeted sales strategies by client and target development market
  • Deliver business analytics that drive enhanced decision-making, solutions development, and operations enhancements
  • Define and implement parameters for managing a modern sales pipeline using Pivot’s CRM
  • Expand Pivot’s thought leadership in the corporate clean energy sector by speaking at conferences, writing articles, and networking
  • Additional duties as required

Team Development

  • Deliver business analytics that drive enhanced decision-making, solutions development, and operations enhancements using Pivot’s CRM
  • Manage team Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), including developing targeted cross-departmental goals that enhance collaboration between the sales team and the broader organization
  • Hire, develop, and engage an industry-leading sales and business development team through product strategy, sales metrics, and data analytics
  • Nurture team professional development to meet opportunities as the energy transition unfolds
  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures for all team-related tasks, including implementing a commission strategy that drives innovation and relationship development and expansion

Competencies

Required

  • 7+ years of in sales management and operations, and team leadership
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate solar, project development, utility programs, or other related clean energy experience
  • Demonstrated success selling a range of solar products to large commercial clients
  • Transferrable skills in negotiation, sales planning, use of CRM software, managing the sales process, staffing, and meeting sales goals
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills
  • Proven team management skills, as a positive and forward-looking leader
  • Experience shepherding portfolios of distributed energy projects through successful contract close
  • Knowledge of corporate budgeting processes and the ability to develop and adhere to budgets for department and development pipeline
  • Systematic approach to business development processes and software platforms to support business development
  • Broad knowledge of energy markets and products, allowing for creativity to develop new products and successfully bring those products to market with Pivot’s client base

Preferred

  • Detailed knowledge of energy markets and regulations, commercial solar procurement, and emerging trends in renewable energy
  • Experience in energy project finance and contract negotiations, allowing for an understanding of how to structure deals
  • Interest in product innovation and creative portfolio structuring
  • Familiarity with optimizing CRMs for effective tracking and reporting; Salesforce preferred

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $180,000-$220,000, depending on relevant experience. This position is commission eligible, which can be further addressed during the interview process and is also eligible for Pivot’s substantial company-wide bonus plan at a target of 50% of annual salary (pro-rated based on start date in the first year).
