SVP, Risk Communications & Employee Engagement: Segment Liaison & Transformation Communications (Hybrid)

The Risk Communications & Employee Engagement Segment Liaison & Transformation Communications SVP (Segment Liaison) will work closely with Citi’s Risk Segment partners in identifying the key Risk Transformation and other key messages originating from each Risk segment and facilitating delivery of these messages across the various channels utilized by the Risk Communications & Employee Engagement Team. The Segment Liaison will play a key advisory role as the Segments develop communications plans/strategies around marquee initiatives and organizational change aligned to Citi’s Risk Management priorities (Proactive Risk Management, Controls & Issues Management, Transformation, People & Organization).

In addition, the Segment Liaison will contribute more broadly to the Risk Communication & Employee Engagement Team’s strategy, which focuses on the employee experience, including events, new communication and feedback channels. Reporting to the Risk Director of Communications & Employee Engagement, the Segment Liaison will co-manage the pipeline of content for the channels used to deliver content across Citi’s global Risk Management function and will collaborate with extra-functional stakeholders to disseminate key messages across audiences outside of Risk as appropriate.

This role will also focus on cultivating connectivity and engagement across the Risk organization and keeping employees’ experience at the heart of the work. The role requires an individual to build and maintain excellent working relationships within the Risk Organization as well as other functions (e.g., Executive Services and Public Affairs, Transformation Communications Team, Human Resources) and the firm broadly.

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within Risk and how they interact to achieve the objectives of the function. This individual will be generally accountable for delivery of a full range of employee engagement services to all Risk Segments throughout the various geographic regions and will establish metrics for success and remediation.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with segments to build and maintain a pipeline of content for the various Risk comms channels in line with messaging priorities
  • Curate content and identify messengers that drive visibility on key themes and ensures balanced representation across segments
  • Review and advise on segment comms plans around marquee initiatives
  • Collaborate on/draft high priority messaging as may be appropriate for Risk Management Executive Council (RMEC) – level deliverables
  • Embed best comms and employee engagement practices across segments to create a better engagement and communications culture.
  • Liaise with Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and segment leads to capture Transformation updates and populate appropriate channels with relevant content
  • Serve as primary liaison with Transformation Comms Team in coordinating “Transforming Risk” newsletter and other content intended for audiences outside of Risk
  • Coordinate with Risk Comms to align with comms calendar & channels
  • Work with accountable persons to ensure employee messages around Risk Transformation are conveyed as may be needed for consistency with Senior Management, Board and Regulatory updates.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy of Risk Employee Engagement & Communications
  • Collaborate and support the vision and effective execution model for Risk Communications and Employee Engagement strategy, and the Risk People Strategy
  • Develop and design communications/activities that seek to impact adoption of new behaviors
  • Work closely with the Risk Communications & Employee Engagement SVP (Internal Communications) in the coordination and delivery of BAU messaging.
  • Drive content for the “Transforming Risk” newsletter in partnership with Citi’s Transformation Comms team
  • Collaborate in executing existing and emerging communications channels to communicate with and engage Risk employees including intranet, town hall and leadership meetings, organizational announcements, newsletters, and other written materials/media
  • Organize, develop & prepare materials (presentations / talking points) for Risk Management executives as needed
  • Leverage the Risk-wide Voice of the Employee program to identify opportunities for employee engagement messaging/programming
  • Excellent communication skills are required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level
  • Exercise control over resources, policy formulation and planning; involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for Risk
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in employee engagement and/or communications; project management experience required; 5+ years’ experience in the financial services industry highly preferred
  • Demonstratable experience in change management communications/program management
  • High-level knowledge of culture-building strategy and execution, and employee communications; demonstrated track record of conducting successful, proactive engagement/communications plans
  • Exceptional writing/copy editing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into effective presentations
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead projects end-to-end that involve collaborating with multiple stakeholders across various functional areas
  • Proven ability to successfully influence, facilitate, and partner. Ability to build strong internal and external relationships
  • High attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Proactive and highly motivated with the ability to multi-task productively and to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment

Education:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Communications or Journalism preferred; but will consider other relevant academic and/or professional experience
