What you will do (day in the life):

In this role, you will be a requirements and verification engineer using engineering methodologies for requirements allocation. You will assist in planning and executing GMD Element requirements and verification for the upgrades to the GMD Element.

Boeing Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer – Requirements and Verification to join the development team on one of our (many) prime programs .

Work Location: Huntsville, AL

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location option s.

As a Senior Systems Engineer on this team you will:

Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions in support of the Missile Defense Agency Ground Based Mid-Course defense system. The position activities include the evaluation of customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. The specific tasks associated with this position are:

  • Leads, develops designs and conducts research that results in new requirements management methodologies or result in unique approaches that mitigate assessment/review findings.
  • Creates and implements strategic approaches for program and business area decisions
  • Lead and advises the development and definition of high level functional and performance requirements and the associated verification methods.
  • Leads requirement and verification working groups.
  • Lead systems analysis, decomposition, and derivation of lower level requirements.
  • Lead development and allocate lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, track them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation.
  • Lead interface requirement and design development.
  • Lead Interface Control Working Groups with the customer and components
  • Leads, develops, maintains and identifies improvements in the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes.
  • Supports Risk and Opportunity processes and working groups.
  • Perform coordination of element level technical reviews
  • Perform resolution of cross-functional technical issues.
  • Supports trade studies
  • Perform interface impact assessments based on new functionality or problem resolution
  • Interface management for development of new or the revision of baselined interfaces due to new capabilities or problem resolution
  • Interface problem analysis and resolution
  • Directly interact with and support MDA customer and supplier points of contact.

Requirements

  • Experience leading and applying systems engineering processes and principles
  • Experience/domain knowledge of complex system architecture, requirements, interface definition, verification, and validation
  • Experience in systems integration and interface definition.
  • Experience in development interface requirements based on system interoperability and performance requirements
  • Experience in DOORs, Cameo, and SysML
  • Development of interface verification and compliance criteria
  • Allocation of system functional decomposition to interface design

This position requires a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment

This position requires clearing a background check and an enhanced Personal Conflict of Interest (PCI) requirements as a condition for employment.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with implementation and maintenance of systems engineering tools, schedules and metrics (i.e. Earned value management, DOORs, CAMEO)
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with requirements and verification/validation within Systems Engineering
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with or on, the GMD program, working with the Missile Defense Agency

Required Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years’ related work experience, Master+12 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary Pay Range:

$138,000 – $207,000
