Systems Administrator II
We are seeking a Systems Administrator II with Microsoft Windows experience and solid troubleshooting skills. In this role, the systems administrator will be the sole IT support person for three DC area offices. Primary location will be Chantilly, VA. Will be required to support users and offices in Arlington, VA and Columbia, MD as needed. The administrator will also work with a remote team supporting program initiatives in secure, isolated computing environments. The administrator will be expected to team with peers and internal customers to strengthen the consistency and standardization of IT infrastructure and services achieve operational excellence and program success. While this position is an individual contributor role, collaboration and solid technical knowledge and skills will be essential attributes.
What You’ll Do:
- Respond to customer requests for assistance with computer software/hardware.
- Respond to user account and password resets.
- Regular patching of Operating Systems and 3rd party applications (e.g. MS Office, Edge, Adobe reader, etc.).
- Setup of new computing devices, break fix of hardware and software, installation of software.
- Troubleshoot networking issues – LAN and Wireless
- Troubleshoot remote access – VDI, VPN, Remote Desktop.
- Assist with VTC setup and meeting support.
- Troubleshoot company provided iPhones and mobile device management.
- Install, maintain, and support multiple Windows-based servers on physical and virtual platforms in support of program initiatives.
- Utilize troubleshooting skills to address stability objectives both reactively and proactively.
- Maintain a secure computing environment, including adherence to backup schedules, patching, virus updates, application of security controls (including STIGs) and regular security scanning and remediation.
- Interface with internal customers, program security, and management teams in planning for, maintaining, and resolving issues with services and systems.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
What You’ll Need:
- Related Bachelor’s and 5 or more years of related experience; or HS Diploma and 11 or more years of related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Associate’s, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for additional years of experience.
- Related certifications may count towards years of related experience.
- Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active TS/SCI + CI Poly security clearance is required.
- Must hold DoD approved 8570 baseline certification (Security+ CE, CASP CE, CISSP, etc.).
- Experience should include solid knowledge of planning, configuring, maintaining, patching, and monitoring in a Microsoft Windows server environment running Windows Server.
- Experience with Windows OS imaging, installation, and support.
- Experience with intel-based server class and desktop hardware.
- Experience with VMware virtualization products (Horizon View, vSphere/ESXI, vCenter).
- Experience with group policy, user, and password maintenance in Microsoft Active Directory.
- Experience troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and related connectivity issues.
- Excellent documentation skills, organization skills, and the ability to interact with team members cross-functionally.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience with VTC equipment preferred.
- Experience with iPhones, Intune MDM, and M365 preferred.
Flexible On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site for three or more days per work week. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
- HIRING SALARY RANGE: $105,000 – $142,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
