Responsibilities
NASA’s Sounding Rocket Operations Contract (NSROC) is a sub-orbital space flight program located at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility (WFF), a part of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). NSROC provides suborbital launch vehicles, payload development and field operations support to NASA’s Science Mission Directorate. The program enables the collection of Earth, Heliophysics and Astrophysics science. The NSROC program is looking for a Systems Administrator to work directly on Site at the Wallops Island Flight Facility.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Windows Server Engineer and Administrator; manage network organization and permissions. Maintain detailed knowledge of required compliance documentation including NASA Policy Directive (NPD) 2810.1F, NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) 2810.1F, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 1194.21 and Part 1194.22
- Manage and maintain a fleet of ground station support computers in accordance with the NSRO IT Security Plan and required compliance documentation including NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR 2810.2), NASA Policy Directive (NPD) 2810.1F, NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR) 2810.1F
- Coordinate with operations to complete the information required to process waivers for foreign mission campaigns in accordance with NASA Procedural Requirements (NPR 2810.2)
- Implement information technology security requirements through access controls, backups, and firewalls
- Serve as a workstation administrator and provide user support of desktop software applications and databases unique to NSROC
- Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies by building an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Database creation, administration, and maintenance for Access databases, SharePoint databases, and integration of data from a variety of locations to sites within a SharePoint environment
- Perform web site development and maintenance on SharePoint web frontend
- Provide administrative and technical IT / database support as required; support design, development, implementation, and maintenance / control of databases for project management
- Design, maintain, and operate enterprise management systems
- Develop program hardware and software needs (e.g., installing, configuring, updating, troubleshooting, training)
- Request procurement of software licenses and maintain budget/schedule of software license renewal
- Operate and maintain network servers including hardware and software; perform system backup (and recovery) as required
- Install, configure, tune, maintain, and monitor Windows / Active Directory server applications
- Oversee multiple employees operating within a defined support operations area
- Implement core business processes and assist in process improvement initiatives to enhance customer service; recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect immediate policies and procedures
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required
Specific Requirements/Licensing
- Highly experienced and skilled in SQL and SharePoint including conversion and extraction of data from one database to another
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills; strong communication skills; good personal computer and business solutions software skills; ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks
- Ability to obtain and maintain a higher-level confidence rating with NASA Security
- Knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, Server, and Desktop operating systems
- Knowledge of SQL, HTML, Nintex forms/workflows, Power Apps, and Power Automate
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to prioritize daily/weekly/monthly lists of activities

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline). One year of experience or more with IT/database support design
- High School diploma with a minimum of six years or more years of related experience with IT/database support design
Desired Qualifications:
- MCSA – Microsoft Certified System Administrator
- MCITP – Enterprise Administrator
- MCTS: SQL Server, Business Intelligent Development and Maintenance

Target Salary Range
$51,000 – $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
