Systems Administrator Principal – 3029

This position is assigned to Vandenberg Space Force Base, Ca.

This position is not eligible for telecommuting.

Essential Functions

  • Perform tasks related to configuring infrastructure software in preparation for launch and pre/post launch operations which includes:
    1. Supporting Range System Validation
    2. Daily/Weekly/Monthly Database checks
    3. Administrative support as it pertains to user accounts
    4. Routine and emergency system restoral procedures
    5. Create instructional aides for task responsibilities
    6. Create System-state and user authentication backups
    7. Provide system status through endpoint analysis and verification and monitor the systems Infrastructure (INF) and Command & Display Local Area Network (C&D LAN) for failures.
    8. Annual password changes on multiple servers, databases, and web-related systems.
    9. Create images for system recovery
    10. Review procedural documentation and coordinate changes or updates to documentation
  • Provide support for testing and execution of new system hardware functions for replacement of legacy equipment.
  • Direct Network Maintenance Technicians (NMT) in performing Repair and Replace.
  • Handle Classified Material.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide input on system-readiness for operations.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, System and Network Administration or similar technical discipline; related military experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience with computers, system security and simple networking.
  • Experience working with the following:
    1. Linux including Red Hat
    2. Windows Server 2000 and Active Directory
    3. Knowledge of Cisco IOS
    4. Knowledge of Tivoli and Netview
    5. Oracle 9i Database Management and OEM
    6. Knowledge of VMWare vSphere and vCenter preferred
  • Understanding of how to install and configure network equipment.
  • Experience with network and system efficiency to implement network solutions.
  • Highly proficient troubleshooting and computer maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge in Launch and Range Operations preferred.
  • Experience handling Classified Material preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance.
  • Ability to frequently climb up and down stairs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50-pound hard drive storage cases, monitors, or servers.
  • Ability to occasionally use stools or short ladders for working on computer terminals on elevated server racks.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • Valid U.S Driver License required.

The salary range for this role is $82,450 – $125,000 however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
