As a member of the Sustaining Engineering team, you would join other smart, talented, and dedicated engineers that pride themselves in analyzing the most difficult challenges for the launch-test range while developing and delivering solutions to meet the needs of the US Space Force and their customers.

This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California.

This position may be eligible for a (hybrid) telecommuting schedule after the initial training period is complete. Tasks for this position must be performed largely on-site, but later assignments may be performed remotely.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with the development, modification, and implementation of new and/or existing capabilities for range hardware systems.
  • Support testing to qualify hardware systems for Range operations.
  • Assist in the execution of engineering projects.
  • Coordinate with technical support personnel for assigned projects.
  • Assist Engineers with approaches to meet requirements.
  • Evaluate component suppliers and vendor capabilities.
  • Assist with problematic repairs of Line Replaceable Units (LRU’s).
  • Provide engineering assistance to restore operational systems.
  • Support a multi-disciplined project team.
  • Conduct site surveys at Range locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

  • Associate degree in engineering or other STEM related field, or equivalent combination of skills and education.
  • Zero to two years of experience in a related engineering or technical field.
  • Proficient working with Windows based computer systems and M/S Office suite.
  • Proficient with digital interface design to include familiarization with interface modules, cable/wire types and connector systems, preferred.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, preferred.
  • Familiar in use of specialized test equipment including but not limited to VOMs, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes, preferred.
  • Proficient in technical writing for development of technical reports, white papers and other technical support documentation preferred.
  • Proficient in reading, understanding, creating or modifying wire diagrams, schematics and mechanical drawings using CAD or other drawing packages preferred.
  • Familiarization with the Linux and Windows Operating systems preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • The ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Some travel may be required (less than 10%).
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

The salary range for this role is $64,480 to $97,648; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills and knowledge.
