Position Summary

MemorialCare’s Systems job family works to administer, manage, design, implement, secure, and maintain clinical and business solutions residing on departmental, campus, and enterprise software systems. They are responsible for overall architecture, installations, maintenance, upgrades, and continuous improvement of MemorialCare’s software systems environment. The Systems group services include design, diagramming, budgeting, monitoring, capacity management and back up to sustain a level of highly available system operations. The Systems group provides technical leadership in the areas of system monitoring, planning and forecasting, ensuring capacity needs are addressed and performance target metrics are met. They respond to incidents, providing troubleshooting and escalation support when service and performance issues occur and proactively monitors and maintains systems to prevent unscheduled service interruptions. The Systems group additionally provides technical cost and resource planning in addition to implementation assistance for projects and new services. They are responsible for reviewing client impact and business continuity as each change is planned. The System group has a thorough understanding of the change management process and its effects on operations. Individuals in the Systems group successfully execute complex system hardware and software upgrades through careful review and planning. Through the change process and continuous effort for improvement this group enables clients across MemorialCare to stay on optimized and secure systems that provide the best outcomes while meeting the needs of the patients they serve.

Under minimal supervision, the MemorialCare Systems Architect is responsible for the design, planning, and engineering of departmental, campus and enterprise software systems. The System Architect provides the long-term vision of system standards, platforms and frameworks that support organizational goals and strategy. The System Architect will perform validation of high-level design plans for optimal systems implementation incorporating highly available designs where applicable. The System Architect has the capability of leading projects and verifying system integrity by ensuring incorporation of system standards and best practices in the installation process. They provide technical support and guidance for complex multi-server’s systems implementations including managing client, sponsor and System Engineers expectations through proven designs, detailed planning and comprehensive testing. The System Architect researches, tests, documents and recommends new technologies based on specified project requirements and organizational standards.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

  • Design and implement strategic goal and tactical plans for managing and maintaining enterprise systems, software, and applications
  • Develop, propose, implement, and modify overall system design architecture of current and proposed enterprise systems
  • Propose and oversee technical projects to improve enterprise systems and architecture
  • Generate policies and procedures related to enterprise systems
  • Document system definitions, requirements, provisioning and maintenance standards across enterprise
  • Provide strategic input into the technology roadmaps of MemorialCare
  • Identify problem situations and considers all perspectives in terms of scope and consequences.
  • Plan for newly introduced technology into the MemorialCare technology landscape
  • Lead various projects and assignment within and across teams
  • Guide review of proposed and existing systems architecture aligns with organizational goals and strategy
  • Educate coworkers to assist their understanding of information systems through one-on-one, team, and formal training
  • Develop and execute plans to handle expected future challenges, with vendor and system audit recommendations

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Qualifications/Work Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of system administration experience
  • Demonstrated ability to create strategic and tactical initiatives that improve enterprise systems availability, capacity, and performance
  • Proven ability to design new enterprise requirements, obtain cost for system architecture, attain approval for and/or implement the new proposal
  • Demonstrated the ability to generate new technical projects, policies, or procedures that improved the outcomes of enterprise systems
  • Defined and documented system definition requirements and cost
  • Previously identified new technologies and associated cost impact to organizations
  • Generated and communicated propositions to improve existing and proposed systems to better align with organizational objectives
  • Experienced in logically applying analytical and problem-solving skills to technical aspects of enterprise software systems, including a fundamental understanding of modern software architecture and its dependencies, and how to configure or modify systems to achieve desired outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to generate, schedule, and execute routine system maintenance tasks using standard and appropriate tools and methodologies
  • Experienced working with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams, including staff outside the Systems group such as vendors to understand business requirements and translate details into functional and technical requests, as well as with various staff levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with data center cabling/infrastructure, networking and server farm build out process
  • Proven strong knowledge of server operating systems, virtualization and network infrastructure
  • Demonstrated technical understanding of Microsoft or Linux operating systems
  • Proven high energy levels and tolerance of tight deadlines, time pressures, and solution ambiguity
  • Experienced in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Demonstrated use of effective written and verbal communications skills
  • Past success working independently as well as exhibiting good participation in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience required
  • Relevant advanced technical design or technical certifications in Citrix, Epic, Linux, Microsoft, VMWare or other applicable for system(s) assigned. Obtainment of additional relevant certification(s) may be required within first year with MemorialCare.
  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
