Amazon is now searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented Systems Development Engineer to be a part of our global initiative of developing and delivering the next generation of world-class fulfillment systems through the use of advanced technology. Successful candidates are natural self-starters who have prior engineering experience in the integrated automation project life cycle, including development, design, implementation, enhancement, and support.
System Development Engineers will be part of a full product life cycle and responsible for successful delivery of units for development and operations. You will serve as a liaison between Fulfillment Center Operations (our customer), product design and development engineers.
This role will require the ability to build relationships across a cross functional team capturing and synthesizing the voice of the customer. Their primary goal is to own the field activities integrating, deploying, and troubleshooting solutions for new advanced technology systems; act as a liaison for internal and external resources and be on call as needed to support downtime events. This position will also provide proper training and support to facility controls technicians on system troubleshooting and preventive maintenance to focus on the system performance improvement and optimization. In parallel with the Deployment Teams you will support performance ramp of the technology deployment at scale.
As a working leader, you are able to take the lead on the implementation and delivery of complex system designs and advanced technology in ambiguous and complex problem spaces. You integrate systems for safety, security, stability, and efficiency. You participate in the full system development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including test plan execution and solution quality needs.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 6+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby experience
– 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
– 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
– 4+ years of systems development in an IT or data center environment experience
– 4+ years of deploying and operating in a Linux/Unix environment experience
– 2+ years of systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement experience
– Experience leading the design, build and deployment of complex and performant (reliable and scalable) software solutions in production
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– 1+ years of development/programming/scripting language (Python/Java/Bash/Perl) experience
– Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
– Experience taking a leading role in building complex software or computing infrastructure that has been successfully delivered to customers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $121,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
