GeoLogics is seeking a talented Systems Engineer to work with one of our national aerospace clients located in Torrance, CA. This is a full-time, 12-month contract position with the possibility of extension.

CLEARANCE: Active Secret

LOCATION: Torrance OR Cypress, CA

PAY RATE: $70-78/hr.

SCHEDULE: M-F, 1st shift, start at 8:00 AM

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in the development, integration, and maintenance of complex systems and technologies used in defense and aerospace applications. The responsibilities of this role will include:

  • System Design and Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop system architectures, subsystems, and components for defense and aerospace systems. This involves understanding and analyzing system requirements, conducting feasibility studies, and creating design specifications.
  • System Integration: Coordinate and oversee the integration of various subsystems, components, and technologies to ensure proper functionality and interoperability. This includes conducting system testing, troubleshooting issues, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Requirements Management: Define, document, and manage system requirements throughout the entire development lifecycle. This involves capturing stakeholder needs, analyzing and allocating requirements, and maintaining traceability between system elements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with system design, integration, and operation. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks, ensure system safety, and enhance reliability.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and user manuals. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, project managers, and stakeholders, to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and alignment of project goals and objectives. Participate in meetings, reviews, and presentations.
  • Verification and Validation: Plan and execute verification and validation activities to ensure that the developed systems meet the specified requirements and performance metrics. This includes developing test procedures, conducting tests, analyzing results, and documenting findings.
  • System Lifecycle Management: Support system lifecycle management activities, including system upgrades, configuration management, and maintenance planning. Monitor system performance, assess operational issues, and propose improvements or enhancements.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
    • Depending on the specific defense and aerospace project, a security clearance may be required. This can include background checks and adherence to strict security protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field of study
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, including:
    • Requirements Development: Verification methodologies and definitions, system architecture development
      Interface Design, and Control Documentation
    • Subsystem Design Description Document: States, Modes, Use Cases, CONOPS design and documentation.
      Open System Design
    • Failure Modes and Reliability Analysis: FMECA, Reliability and Maintainability Documentation
    • Integration Efforts: Mutli-discipline integration, Software Hardware CSCI mapping, Mechanical/EE interfacing
      Customer interfacing: PDR/CDR/TRR preparation and presentation, Ensuring integration to the platform.
    • Software Tools: Familiarity with systems engineering tools and software used for requirements management, modeling and simulation, configuration management, and project documentation (e.g., DOORS, SysML, MATLAB, Simulink).
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices.
    • Familiarity with defense and aerospace industry standards, regulations, and specifications.
    • Knowledge of relevant technologies, such as avionics, sensors, communication systems, and software integration.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
    • Ability to analyze complex system requirements, identify potential issues or risks, and propose innovative solutions.
    • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to address integration challenges and ensure system performance.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and clients.
    • Ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Project Management:
    • Proficiency in project management principles and practices.
    • Experience in planning and executing engineering projects within defined timelines and budgets.

  • Master’s degree
