Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an opening for a dynamic Entry-Level Electrical Engineer in our growing Rail Transit Systems Group. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the design-build delivery of infrastructure projects.

The Systems Integration Engineer leads successful systems integration / systems engineering related activities, and coordinate with or manage other engineers at peer and junior level engineers. The position is expected to operate with minimum supervision, to manage a team of engineers or the third-party engineering contractors, and to provide mentorship to the mid-level and the entry-level engineers as needed.

Location

This position will be based out of our Lone Tree, CO office.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Systems Integration Engineer in the conceptual, preliminary, and final design for complex rail transit projects.
  • Work with a team in providing systems engineering oversight for rail transit projects involving traction power, signaling and train control equipment, third rail and/or OCS poles, messenger and contact wire runs, installation of traction power substation and signal buildings, public address equipment, voice and data communication, telephones, fiber optic, CCTV, security alarm, fire detection and suppression, computer systems, and systems integration testing and startup activities.
  • Responsible for providing technical direction and assuring the accuracy of the work produced by the design team and contractors, including plans, specifications, and estimates.
  • Witness factory and field testing of systems equipment.
  • Responsible for interfacing with the other disciplines to ensure proper coordination of the systems aspects of the project.
  • Ensures compliance of design with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Interface with the Project Manager to determine schedules and monitor design progress.
  • Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule.
  • Develop Systems Integration and Interface Management Plans
  • Develop Integration Testing and Acceptance Plans including testing forms, procedures, and approval steps.
  • Establish and maintain a systematic, documented, comprehensive, and verifiable systems integration processes to be applied through the project s design and construction phases.
  • Develop and coordinate Interface Control Documents.
  • Develop and maintain Systems Interface Matrices / Databases.
  • Understanding of construction means and methods
  • Knowledge of the principles of traction power and signaling systems. In addition, knowledge of communications and central control facilities is desirable.
  • Familiarity with rail transit industry standards, practices, and regulations is required.
  • Experience in design and/or construction management of rail transit systems such as traction power substations, third rail and/or overhead contact systems, signals/train control, and communications is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 0-3 years in preliminary and detail design for rail systems on rail transit projects
  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • EIT (Engineer in Training) is preferred
  • Ability to travel as business requires
  • Proficient in CAD software, like AutoCAD and MicroStation
  • Proficient in MS office suite #LI-JANUP

Base Compensation: $60,826 – $91,240
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
