Where Will I Work?

You will work within Florida’s beautiful capital city, Tallahassee, FL. Tallahassee is a city of continued growth and economic development, and home to the campuses of Florida State University (FSU), the Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU), and Tallahassee Community College (TCC).

What Will My Role Be?

If selected for this role, you will be a Talent Engagement and Support Analyst. The position is vital to the values, mission, and vision of our organization. In this role, you will report directly to the Talent Engagement and Support Supervisor, performing enterprise-wide recruitment and program administrator activities. The ideal candidate is a great team player who possesses dynamic communications skills and can work well with employees across the organization. The candidate is skilled in planning, designing, coordinating, implementing, and facilitating multiple programs while traveling in the Spring and Fall to various university and college recruitment events.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will be to:

  • Coordinate internship activities in the North region of Florida: Central Office, State Materials Office, and Districts 2 and 3.
  • Meet with district Points of Contact (POC) quarterly and participates in statewide annual POC meeting. Coordinate development of advertisements and recruitment activities in the North region of Florida.
  • Review supervisor and intern assessments each semester.
  • Works with the South Florida Regional Internship Coordinator to develop and update outreach content and media. Coordinate outreach to and district participation in school events in the North region of Florida.
  • Coordinate with the Human Resources Office. Liaise with Universities and Colleges in the North region of Florida.
  • Meets with University internship and recruitment POCs at State University System (SUS) Universities within the region 2-3 times per year to discuss and report participation rates, opportunities for program improvement, participation in career fairs, and other relevant occupational events.
  • Meet with Florida State Colleges with business, engineering, and other agency-relevant programs annually.
  • Meet with private Colleges and Universities with agency-relevant programs.
  • Serve as the statewide Florida Department of Transportation Awards and Recognition Program Coordinator.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the program, including updating the websites, communicating with all District Coordinators, confirming award recipients, maintaining award item inventory and routing as appropriate.
  • Provides Service Award pins and certificates signed by the Secretary to recipients in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the Mentoring Program Coordinator.
  • Update websites as needed or requested.
  • Provide communication for upcoming cycles, orientations, monthly status checks, and program changes.
  • Coordinate a follow-up survey for all participants and regularly review the program for enhancement opportunities.
  • Provide bi-annual MentorWorks training opportunities to Central Office staff to maintain program awareness and participation.
  • Assist the Organizational Development Office with coordination and facilitation of any meetings and/or strategic initiatives requested by the Executive Team. Assist with managing and communicating logistics.
  • Assist with coordinating follow-up communication as needed.
  • Execute special projects as assigned, to include supporting Organizational Development training needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Florida Statutes, rules and department policies related to travel, Purchase card usage, and attendance and leave.
  • Knowledge of industry concepts and practices related to recruitment at colleges and universities.
  • Skill in providing presentations, event and program planning and coordination.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Suite; including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • Skill in producing and organizing supporting materials.
  • Skill in managing self and taking pride to provide exceptional customer service by responding with a sense of urgency, practicality, accountability, and integrity.
  • Skill in working in a dynamic environment that requires critical thinking and strong analytical skills.
  • Skill in effective communication; both verbal and written and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete complex work assignments.
  • Ability to maintain accurate record keeping.
  • Ability to coordinate meetings, workshops, conferences, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to changing environments and work processes.
  • Ability to travel.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from a college or university and two years of professional experience in program coordination or support, recruitment, planning, or organizational or staff development. A master’s degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience. Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires a valid driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Drivers Record Requirements Policy. An unacceptable driving record is defined as any of the following:

  1. three (3) or more moving violations in the past 3 years that accumulate 3 or more points per violation;
  2. any 2 convictions of reckless driving in the past 3 years;
  3. a suspension or revocation of the driver license for moving violations in the past 3 years; and
  4. a suspension or revocation for refusal to take a sobriety test, or any suspension or revocation for a DUI conviction in the past 4 years

Your driving record will be reviewed and the status of your driver license confirmed.
