Talent Services – Employee Lifecycle Events, Separations Lead
Manages, collaborates, facilitates, resolves, and assumes responsibility for all requests related to separations. This role serves as the main point of contact and subject matter expert for Talent Business Advisors, Business PPMDs, Talent Relations, and Performance Management, as well as other areas within Deloitte Services such as Payroll, ITS, Records Management, etc.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for meeting with practitioners leaving Deloitte, ensuring all exit related items are completed, and exit discussions are conducted. Serves as subject matter expert for:
- Payroll – manages any payroll related issues that may arise, which includes working with individuals who request assistance with outstanding repayment obligations.
- Independence – counsels among multiple stakeholders to ensure all financial obligations related to restricted entities and attest clients are settled to avoid any conflicts with Independence rules.
- Office of Confidentiality and Privacy – ensures certification of compliance policies are adhered to for all exiting employees.
- Records Management -guides separated professionals to ensure client engagement files are returned to minimize risk to the firm.
- IT – guides separated professionals to support the return of firm assets, and initiate access controls to reduce risk of Deloitte equipment and confidential information being accessible after individuals leave.
- GPS Security Clearances – advises GPS Security team of all late voluntary separations so they may debrief the individual leaving. Coordinate with the GPS Security team on all involuntary separations to ensure their ability to debrief the individual after the exit meeting before leaving the premises.
- Other – as needed
- Works with Talent Business Advisors, Business Leaders, Talent Relations, and Performance Management on optimal approach to conduct large involuntary separation actions to achieve Business objectives and mitigate reputational and legal risk.
- Manages and coordinates group involuntary activities, partnering with key stakeholders to ensure business and Talent needs are met.
- Strategizes with Talent Relations on high-risk separations to determine appropriate approach.
- Meets with business leaders and Talent Business Advisors, when applicable, to coach and prepare various parties for their role in the exit meeting, review any issues, advise on meeting approach and delivery, and discuss logistics.
- Attends the involuntary meeting with business leaders. Assists in the discussion of employee relations issues if the impacted professional becomes defensive, combative or brings up any issues
- related to being treated unfairly. Guides the conversation accordingly and away from the business leader to help the impacted professional focus on the transition to move forward.
- Negotiates with the impacted professional on any additional severance requested.
- Partners with the Office of Confidentiality and Privacy to review and resolve data breach issues and concerns for separating professionals to mitigate risk to the firm.
- Coordinates and communicate with exiting professionals regarding potential data breach to discuss the files in question and assess whether there is a violation.
- For any violations that occur, escalate accordingly to the Office of Confidentiality and Privacy and CI Champion.
- Attends meetings with business leaders, CI Champions, OCP and TR to determine next steps when it is determined that employees are demonstrating malicious intent.
- Ability to handle difficult separation conversations with empathy and resiliency
- Perform other related job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent with five years of related experience
- Prioritizes and independently executes responsibilities; ability to work with minimal instruction
- High degree of professionalism and integrity and ability to work in a highly confidential environment
- Experience in a large or matrix driven corporation with overseas or outsourced operations
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interface with all levels within the firm
- Initiative and self-direction; works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues
- Excellent client service skills
- Excellent organizational skills, prioritizing, and multi-tasking abilities
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to approach challenges with creativity and resourcefulness
- Ability to manage complex projects with virtual teams
- Creative problem-solving skills
- Decision making required with sensitivity to involuntary separations
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship now or at any time in the future
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent program/project management skills
- Experience with Salesforce, ServiceNow and HR Admin preferred
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $72,900 to $149,700.
You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
