Trident Seafoods is seeking a motivated tax and treasury intern to join our expanding team for a paid full-time summer internship. The right candidate will be considered for a full-time (or part-time if still a student) tax and treasury associate position upon successful completion of the internship. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and develop professionally within North America’s largest global seafood company. The Tax and Treasury Intern will be responsible for assistance with Corporate Tax functions including federal, state and local income tax return compliance, monthly sales and use tax reporting, property tax filings, and various forms of detailed tax research. Additionally, the internal will also be responsible for treasury reporting/reconciliation, daily cash reporting, and various ad hoc projects. This opportunity allows candidates to gain experience and insight into the inner workings of a Corporate Tax and Treasury department.
This hybrid position will be a combination of remote and onsite at the Trident Support Center office in Seattle, WA. Our hybrid work environment includes remote on Monday and Friday and in the Support Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Function:
- Learn about and assist with federal income tax adjustments
- Preparation of various sales and use, excise and property tax filings
- Become familiar with in-house tax resources and tools including excel, BNA fixed assets, BNA Research, SAP, Blackline
- Assist with other ad hoc projects as needed
Treasury Function:
- Review and assist in the daily and month-end treasury activities, including bank account and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Provide daily cash activity reports to management
- Verify daily cash receipts and reports from credit department to bank statements, and identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist co-workers and customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
- Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Working towards a BS in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- A strong desire to learn and produce high quality work product
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, in positions requiring communication with a broad and diverse audience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in the Finance Field.
- Prior work experience in the Tax and Treasury Field.
This is a nonexempt position with an hourly rate of $20.00 to $25.00.
