Pay Range

$30.08 – $36.51 Hourly

Job Description
Asset Management has an opening for a Dispatcher and relief Motor Vehicle Driver. Under minimal supervision, the incumbent will provide driver on-road needs while executing routes safely and efficiently. Will dispatch a variety of vehicles including commercial motor vehicle (bus) and light passenger vehicles in support of the Supply and Distribution Division’s Taxi Services section transportation requests. Interacts with a variety of high-level managers and visitors.This position is in Supply and Distribution Division in the Asset Management Department.

You will

  • Serve as the primary vehicle dispatcher, which includes dispatching taxis to passenger pickup points using two-way radio. Serve as a relief taxi driver when needed to pick up passengers.
  • Communicate schedules/details as required, including making decisions on safe routes and drop-off/pick-up locations, based on road closures.
  • Respond quickly to client needs and requests through phone and email communications with event planners and senior leadership. Dispatch information to drivers for transportation of senior laboratory management, VIPs, and distinguished visitors. This includes providing transportation support required by the Protocol Office including congressional visitors, foreign dignitaries, senior management, and high-ranking military personnel.
  • Coordinate drivers’ schedules to accommodate changes to tours and vacation/sick leave.
  • Manage the institutional carpool/vanpool program. Utilize FileMaker Pro database to track, issue, and oversee the carpool/vanpool program.
  • Ensure daily logs, pre-trip inspection paperwork and monthly mileage are in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and General Services Administration (GSA) regulations. Coordinate vehicle repairs and scheduled maintenance of vehicles with Fleet Management.
  • Serve as the backup for trips and tour bookings.
  • Inspect assigned vehicle routinely, noting any mechanical deficiencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to obtain a valid California Commercial Class B driver’s license and passenger endorsement within four months of hire. Must have an excellent driving record.
  • Safe driving skills and comprehensive knowledge of Department of Motor Vehicle regulations and California Vehicle Codes.
  • Ability to multi-task in a rapidly changing environment
  • Comprehensive knowledge of information technology systems for routine use in functional area.
  • Effective decision making skills necessary to independently recommend appropriate actions and/or solutions to problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion with all levels of personnel, including senior management and external dignitaries.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at one time.
  • Knowledge of Bay Area streets, highways, and airport locations.
  • Knowledge and abilities in the operation of two-way radios.

Security Clearance

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter.
