General Purpose

Provides advice and counsel to management and client organizations using data analysis and experience regarding workforce utilization and delivery of the capital and OMAG plans. Plans and coordinates delivery of work plans and condition corrections while assessing impacts to resource, company objectives, and regulatory requirements. Conducts studies and analyses, develops alternatives, presents recommendations to management and influences management decisions. Researches, analyzes, develops and implements new strategies, programs, and/or processes in response to changing internal and external conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze relevant data, evaluate complex situations, develop creative alternatives, provide recommendations, and negotiate and influence outcomes.
  • Prepare key managerial performance reports for the organization.
  • Manage the OMAG budget process to ensure that all stakeholders have their needs met.
  • Audits business system data and looks for improvements in actuals against targets.
  • Develop basic cost estimates and resource requirements for construction and maintenance projects, involving transmission and distribution facilities.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized historical cost databases and application tools to aid in future forecasts and estimates.
  • Analyze business processes, conduct special studies, develop alternatives, and present recommendations to management and influence management decisions.
  • Develop financial forecasts for districts.
  • Report complex financial and operational performance data in simple terms and communicate throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with operation managers and area engineers to develop and review ER’s.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in an applicable field directly related to position responsibilities.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to establish trust, maintain confidence, and understand social behavior and interactions.
  • Ability to work with all organizational levels to influence actions and negotiate outcomes.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively through oral and written means.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation applications to gather, analyze, and model information.
  • Project management and leadership skills, including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.

Preferences

  • Previous Utility Operations experience in a financial role.
  • Experience of guiding and creation of budget/reporting processes.
  • Familiarity with the following software: Maximo, SAP, GIS applications, Power BI, and database query applications.
  • Experience with job cost accounting and variance analysis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the electrical utility industry and its regulatory and operating environments.
  • Understanding of project life cycles.
  • Understanding FERC requirements and regulations.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, including the ability to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings.
  • Experience in construction, estimating, maintenance planning or costing.
