The Senior Litigation Paralegal position plays a critical role within Solvay’s General Counsel Legal Team. The position works day-to-day with our Chief Litigation and Employment Counsel managing the Company’s wide-ranging US claim and litigation docket and leads the Company’s eDiscovery processes. This position also will also support employment and environmental matters and corporate investigations. A superior ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task in a fast paced, in-house legal environment is necessary.

Some key accountabilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage all elements of the Company’s eDiscovery obligations, including the legal hold and document collection processes, through the use of the Company’s eDiscovery compliance system and internal processes.
  • Oversee and prepare responses to third-party subpoenas and record requests on behalf of the Company.
  • Oversee and Manage the Company’s severance program, including the preparation of severance agreements for individual eliminations and company-led programs.
  • Review, analyze and synthesize pleadings, documents, merger & acquisition agreements and other contracts for litigations, claims, and investigations.
  • Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, releases and other agreements.
  • Identify, implement and ensure best practices and processes for litigation, discovery and claim management.
  • Assist in-house and external counsel on litigation and claim strategies.
  • Participate on cross functional and global teams to ensure compliance with litigation and reserve processes.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Paralegal Degree/Certificate or Equivalent Post-Graduate Education (preferred but not required).
  • Minimum of Seven to Ten years at a law firm or combination of law firm and in-house.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of more than one of the following disciplines:

-Toxic Tort, Product Liability, Environmental, Commercial and Employment Litigation.

  • Document platforms for data preservation purposes.
  • State and Federal Litigation Processes.
  • Microsoft WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, AoDocs including Google Suite – Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive, Google Sheets and Google Docs.
  • At least one eDiscovery and one Legal Hold system (e.g. Clearwell eDiscovery, Rational Governance, Open Text, Relativity).
  • Case Management software a plus (e.g. LawTrac, Legal Tracker).

Additional Information:

  • Competitive salary; salary range of $75,000-$85,000/annually. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
