Associate, Development and Marketing

POSITION SUMMARY:

Coordinate and support all marketing and communications needs for the Western PA region in collaboration with the development, marketing and communication teams to ensure that the mission, services, events and financial needs are communicated clearly to the public through various channels that are strategic, inclusive, and cohesive. In collaborations with the embedded territory marcoms staff, this position will broaden the chapters media outreach, improve internal communications. This includes tasks such as social media postings and updates, gathering content for national and local e-newsletters and publications, assisting in the creation of event assets, contributing to the territory editorial calendar, as well as establishing and coordinating the expansion of ALS signature events within the Western PA region.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES IN MARKETING:

  • Ensure consistent communication of The ALS Association image and brand in collaboration with the embedded territory and Home Office marcoms team.
  • Coordinate the planning, design, and execution of regional communications such as: social media, website, e-newsletters, emails, flyers, and printed materials. Ensuring consistency and compliance with the procedures and language established for the entire Association.
  • Contribute to the annual editorial calendar for the Association by gathering input from regional departments and aligning it with organizational goals.
  • Develop press releases, media advisories, and calendar listings in collaboration with the Home Office communications department. Create a list of press and media contacts for the region and establish a regular Candance of communication to the embedded marcoms staff for events and other regional activities.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of signature events in the Western PA region.
  • In conjunction with the Care Services and Development teams, coordinate the promotion of activities and events to ensure their success and enhance public awareness of the organization and its mission. Continue the production of the E-Newsletter that is sent to people living with ALS and their families specially as it relates to support groups, information about local ALS studies and clinical trials, caregiver trainings, equipment lab hours and access to regional programming. Work in collaboration to develop the monthly E-Newsletter territory wide with regular distribution containing information important to region.
  • As part of a larger team, this job also entails general administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to filing, answering phones, making copies etc.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES IN DEVELOPMENT:

  • This position carries a minimum portfolio of $300K and works in coordination with the development team to achieve an annual budget of $2.5 million.
  • Grow awareness and attendance at all regional events through consistent communication of The ALS Association values and brand in collaboration with the embedded territory and Home Office marcoms team as well as development team.
  • Coordinate new and existing third-party events and support planning and execution of the CEO Soak, Johnstown Walk and Erie Walk.
  • Coordinate new and existing endurance events including the Pittsburgh Marathon.
  • In collaboration with the Managing Director of Volunteer Engagement and the Managing Director of Advocacy to build and execute a cultivation plan that engages and inspires volunteer and community prospects and partners to support events, become and ALS Advocate and/or join the Chapter Leadership Council.
  • Work closely with development staff at the Association’s home office to ensure coordination on fundraising activities and compliance with all standards and policies/guidelines. Obtain signatures and remit all event standards documents in a timely and coordinated fashion.
  • Maintain involvement with external organizations and professional groups that may provide continuing education or build long-term relationships with donors/supporters.
  • Support and help execute all regional events through fundraising, logistics planning, set up, attending and helping with registration and other event tasks, tear down and follow up with VIP’s and other donors and/or sponsors.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3-5 years of commensurate experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear written communication and strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, work under pressure with flexibility, and accept new challenges.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite tools including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Experience with Salesforce database management.
  • Success in managing multiple projects and deadlines, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • As needed, ability to work extended hours, evenings, and weekends and to travel throughout the territory; occasional national travel also required.
  • Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Reimbursement for mileage is at standard IRS rate per mile.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

The ALS Association’s pay range for this position is $45,000 – $55,000 annually.

The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States, allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidate’s primary work location. Various factors, including the complexity and significance of the role, job duties/requirements, relevant experience and abilities, and primary work location, determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.

The Association may, at its discretion, offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
