Turn 10 Studios has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Art Director to work alongside the team responsible for the top-selling and critically acclaimed Forza Motorsport franchise. In this role, you’ll be responsible for leading the Tech Art department to drive innovation and work with other teams to deliver forward-looking content authoring and workflow strategies. In collaboration with the Art Director and our art and technical leads, this role will seek out, define and execute technical content creation methods and processes that aim to efficiently and cost effectively deliver high quality racing game content. The Technical Art Director is a good communicator who can provide the requisite training, documentation and design to a group of Artists and manage a staff of technical artists.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Visual Art Director to assess and strategize for technical needs to execute desired in-game visuals
- Work with art and development teams to develop content authoring techniques that streamline content processes, workflows and pipelines
- Strategically keep the studio ahead of the curve with new technologies and workflows, support R&D efforts by testing and prototyping feasibility
- Identify areas across teams where consistent content authoring or rendering techniques could help unification
- Ensure that art teams deliver content that adheres to performance budget guidelines
- Direct and mentor a team of technical artists
Qualifications:
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 6+ years technical art or industry-related design experience
- OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ year(s) technical art or industry-related design experience
- OR equivalent experience.
- 4+ years experience using related software and packages (e.g., Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, SideFX Houdini, Zbrush, Substance Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in 3D Art/Graphic Design, Technical Direction/Art or similar
- 5+ years directing or managing a team of technical artists
- Excellent communication skills, especially for providing feedback in a constructive and clear manner
- Strong background in collaboration with different functions in game development
Technical Art IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 – $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 – $282,200 per year.
