Technical Business Developer, Data Center Divestiture, Infrastructure Strategic Collaborations

Amazon Web Services is leading the next paradigm shift in computing and is looking for an accomplished Principal Business Development Manager in the AWS Infrastructure and the Data Center Global Services team to support enterprise customers in their efforts to exit their data centers, unblocking their migration to the AWS cloud. In this role, you will work closely with the AWS Partner Organisation, and directly with enterprise customers in evaluating their current data center infrastructure and helping them to maximize their return on existing infrastructure investments.

In this role you will deliver results through the development of joint industry Go to Market programs, identifying and help enable large-scale IT Outsourcing wins. You will own qualification and development of data center exit opportunities, and working with various AWS sales and partner teams develop high-value customer solutions that enable or accelerate cloud migration for key enterprise customers. You will also drive infrastructure and financial analysis, colocation and investor partnerships, as well as final execution and delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess both a business background that enables them to drive an engagement and interact at CXO/VP level, as well as a technical background that enables them to easily interact with customer and partner infrastructure teams relative to data center facility, IT infrastructure and operations.

The candidate will have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and long-term about the needs of complex global businesses and communicate the benefits of their proposed transformation strategy. They should show ability to negotiate multimillion dollar contracts from a business and technical perspective, and to work with a high degree of autonomy.

Position will be based at any AWS US office location and may require the ability to travel 25% to 40% of the time.

Key job responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the AWS Enterprise Transformation Tech BusDev team to directly support top partners and customers and articulate the economic value of cloud and data center transformation to their organizations
  • Building a seamless end to end Customer journey through the various stages of data center transformation
  • Develop a template for scaling the data center divest transformation model with key AWS partners
  • Partner with the AWS Partner Organisations to scale out the templates and process
  • Serve as a key source of market insights into our customers data center and infrastructure transformation challenges
  • Prepare and present internal business reviews to senior management teams regarding progress and issues facing our customer
  • Own and drive strategy for developing pipeline of customer engagements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, a similar field or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in partner or business development and/or infrastructure program/product management.
  • 5+ years of experience with data center infrastructure and operations, site selection and procurement.
  • Experience in negotiating large value complex deal structures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be able to demonstrate a successful history of negotiation experience.
  • Ability to negotiate legal documents and interact with legal resources.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations
  • Extensive contacts in the data center, Colocation and REIT markets.
  • Ability to understand and communicate high level Data Center infrastructure technologies
  • Technical degree; MBA and/or Computer Science background.
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
  • Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
