We’re looking for a passionate Technical Gameplay Designer who will embrace our philosophy and work with design leadership, artists, code, and other departments to help us create an incredible experience for our players. This position is open to remote candidates.
What you’ll do…
- Design technical implementation of wide-reaching game systems involving all departments.
- Become a resource of knowledge for other team members to query on the inner-workings of the game and engine.
- Become an expert at all implementation aspects of the game and engine, able to tackle any issue large or small.
- Track-down complicated logic issues and design sustainable solutions.
- Refactor prototypes into efficient and satisfying gameplay mechanics.
Ideally, you’ll have…
- 0-2+ years’ experience in the games industry working as a designer or engineer, one or more shipped titles is a bonus.
- A team-player mindset, understanding the importance of collaboration, and able to communicate effectively with all disciplines and departments.
- Experience with text-based scripting, visual scripting, and programming languages.
- Knowledge of modern game engine tools and pipelines such as Unreal Engine 5.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming principles such as polymorphism and inheritance to create strong system architecture.
- A player-first perspective to developing a refined gameplay experience.
- Knowledge of gameplay mechanics across a wide variety of genres.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field is a bonus, but not a requirement.

US COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The base salary ranges listed below are for the defined geographic market pay zones in these states. If you reside outside of these locations, a recruiter will advise on the base salary range and benefits for your specific location.
EA has listed the base salary ranges it in good faith expects to pay applicants for this role in the locations listed, as of the time of this posting. Salary offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business or organizational needs.
BASE SALARY RANGES
- California (depending on location e.g. Los Angeles vs. Sacramento):
° $78,500 – $119,650
- New York (depending on location e.g. Manhattan vs. Buffalo):
° $73,150 – $119,650
- Jersey City, NJ :
° $84,750 – $119,650
- Colorado (depending on location e.g. Denver vs. Colorado Springs):
° $73,150 – $97,500
- Washington (depending on location e.g. Seattle vs. Spokane):
° $73,150 – $105,250
Base salary is just one part of the overall compensation at EA. We also offer a package of benefits including paid time off (3 weeks per year to start), 80 hours per year of sick time, 16 paid company holidays per year, 10 weeks paid time off to bond with baby, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, disability insurance, and 401(k) to regular full-time employees. Certain roles may also be eligible for bonus and equity.
