Job Description
Hanley, Flight & Zimmerman, LLC (HFZ), an IP law firm based in downtown Chicago, is looking for a technical illustrator. This candidate will support our patent prosecution practitioner team in creating patent drawings to accompany our patent applications submitted to the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
The technical illustrator will be working with patent attorneys, agents, and engineers on the development of technical drawings to be submitted with our patent filings. These drawings do not require advanced technical knowledge for the technical illustrator to perform this work successfully. Use of Microsoft Visio is a plus, but not required. A graphic arts background is a plus but not required. HFZ will provide training in the use of Microsoft Visio.
The technical illustrator position is an in-office role, M-F, 35 hours per week, during regular business hours. There is hybrid flexibility and HFZ will provide any needed technology for the technical illustrator to perform the work remotely.

Requirements
- A 4-year bachelor’s degree from an accredited university with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred).
- Graphic arts or technical drawing skills preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with HFZ team members.
- The ability to be well organized and timely manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio a plus.
