Work hard, have fun, and make history at Amazon Web Services!
If you enjoy being at the forefront of industry growth and development, operating in a highly ambiguous, rapidly growing environment, driving long-range growth in support of an evolving business strategy, and working across teams to solve challenges and remove obstacles, then this is the role for you.
The AWS Non-Standard Infrastructure Global Delivery Team has an immediate opening for an Infrastructure Technical Program Manager to execute non-standard capacity planning and delivery across multiple AWS regions. You will lead cross-functional teams to drive the development and implementation of the completed designs and develop and document requirements, budgets, and project schedules to drive timely infrastructure delivery; drive improvements to the health of the fleet; and make data-driven decisions that influence large capital investments. Your role will span strategic planning for complex, multi-year capacity delivery and capital improvement initiatives, working with local teams to plan, initiate, and execute specific projects, and drive coordination of local efforts to implement global fleet optimization activities across the region. You will work across the entire AWS organization and partner with key stakeholders and partner teams to find solutions for both short- and long-range demand plans, address short- and long-term capacity constraints, and drive projects from conceptual feasibility through development of detailed technical requirements, budget approval, completed design, implementation, functional testing, and deployment. Finally, you will drive accountability across the Infrastructure organization and develop mechanisms to monitor the health of the capacity delivery and sustainment program, escalating issues to executive leadership as needed.
This role offers an opportunity to drive and influence business-critical decisions impacting the long-term future of AWS, working at the leading edge of emerging capability and service offerings. The Candidate must be comfortable managing remote project teams delivering novel and sometimes pioneering solutions across multiple countries and time-zones; assessing, identifying, and mitigating downstream risk; troubleshooting unforeseen and time-critical implementation issues as they arise; removing bureaucratic barriers to project success; and dealing with persistent uncertainty, pitfalls, and change. Being able to build and manage cross-functional matrixed teams, establish trust with a variety of internal customers and stakeholders, eliminate non-value-add activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery is a must. Most importantly, the Candidate must be able to act independently, using good judgement to drive timely decision making and deliver high-quality results. ambiguous
The ideal candidate will be a particularly strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess 3-5+ years of experience in project management in construction or other technical initiatives, with some additional experience in strategic program management. Strong judgment, relationship building skills, ability to influence without authority, problem solving talent, and project team leadership experience, along with the tenacity to thrive and succeed in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial, and fast-paced environment brimming with competing priorities are critical. Experience in data center infrastructure deployments is a plus, but not essential. A Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate Program/Project management experience is required.
